All I hear is talk about us quitting it but nothing about why it's bad except "cuz pollution"

If nobody can tell me why this is bad policy, just that Trump sucks and global warming is bad it was probably just a large donation to be embezzled somewhere along the lines.

A good read. More than 140 characters and without pictures, so maybe beyond some peoples' attention span.

    http://news.nationalpost.com/news/w...e-emissions-successful-and-what-of-its-future

Twenty-one countries met their emission targets, but most of these countries were not top emitters. For example, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Ukraine, combined account for only about 1% of the world’s share of carbon-dioxide emissions. “You have to judge Kyoto to have been a failure. Just on the merits of what was done as a result of the agreement and countries not actually living up to their commitments or staying with the agreement,” said Kenneth P. Green, an environmental scientist at the Fraser Institute.

    ...

Canada, active in negotiations under the Chrétien Liberals, signed the accord in 1997 and ratified it in 2002. Canada initially set its emission target to be 6% lower than its 1990 base year. Canada ended up being more than 20% above its base year when it decided to withdraw in 2011. This decision saved the government an estimated $14 billion in penalties, former Environment Minister Peter Kent said in 2011. “No one really had an understanding of how difficult it was to decarbonize an economy, how difficult it is to separate greenhouse gas emission from energy production,” said Mr. Green. “These targets were essentially arbitrary,” he added.

Oh, and the rest of the world is still in. That should still make a good impact on global warming right?

I mean, it's just us and a couple of evil countries right?

The rest of the world is addicted to our paying for everything. No wonder they're upset.

Here you go. Lots of people have similar questions as you do. Various scientists are answering them.

This does completely make my point. I'm not asking how climate change works. I'm asking for tangible proof of how the US fixes it by being part of this agreement. That's all. There isn't one example in this thread or on the news.

You should live overseas and actually meet some people.....my 2 decades living outside the States made me realize the US isn't such a big story in most of the world after all.....my relatives spend very time thinking about American politics or involvement in their countries...taking care of the global environment has nothing to do with nationalistic profit unless in fact, that's your religion...the thing that makes you cry and sets your hair on fire as you say. We tend to think the globe is waiting on our every move and actually....that's just American arrogance....life goes on for people whether we help out or not. I can only speak for the family members I have in Taiwan, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia...and contrary to popular belief, most of those folks don't want to move here.

Maybe you should spend a little time reading about what the problem truly is and how it will effect the only home we have so you can be part of an informed discussion of what to do. Denny is so confused on this subject he's already contradicted himself multiple times. And Denny is a really smart guy (not saying you're not, lol). He goes from saying carbon isn't the problem to Canada failed because they didn't reduce enough carbon.

It was a good move by Trump. The US should stop paying for everybody else. We will meet the emission goals set forth in the agreement anyway. Liberals just don't like the optics of the announcement.

Not sure if this was written to me but few people you could meet have a lower carbon footprint than I....I've been championing environmental protection since the 70s.....I read a lot of articles about global warming but traveling through China, I saw it first hand...they did the worst job managing their natural resources you could imagine...deforested, dried up watersheds, air pollution etc....now they have had no choice but to address it....China is running out of water as we speak. We have practiced dumping crap we can't legally dispose of here in 3rd world countries like Cambodia for a long time....out of site, out of mind.

I'm asking for one person here to give an informed opinion of what this agreement does. Will not get it. Not sure why I'm asking a question I know I won't get an answer to.

Do you know anything about this agreement other than Trump is an asshole?

I don't want a link to Reddit. You tell me why this is bad. Hell, anyone. Please?
