The Chainsaw Massacre never happened.Ed Gein - Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The True Storyhttp://www.chasingthefrog.com/reelfaces/texaschainsaw.phpThe film, like the films Psycho, Deranged, and The Silence of the Lambs, was loosely inspired by Ed Gein. Gein did wear human skin, but he acted alone and did not use a chainsaw. Although the film's opening would have one believe that the events are factual, it is merely a scare tactic, called the false document technique.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Texas_Chainsaw_Massacre-------------------------------------------------------- I know a lot of you already know this, but it's suprising how many people take these movies as fact or that something like this really happened in Texas. The killer that inspired the Chainsaw films lived 2 hours away from my city in a little town in Wisconsin.
You already made this topic before. People these days take everything literally, especially when a movie states based on true/actual events during the credits. Lot of them just take a basic true story and forge their own idea from the event. Either going way off track and using basic ideas or using some of the story details such as Amityville Horror. Obviously it's true about the family being murdered there but the movie just takes that and makes it a ghost story with a movie plot.Just wanted to add, since it fits in with the topic. Quentin Tarantino presents does not mean he directs the movies. If you say that in a theater I'm in, I will punch you in the face.
I watched the beginning last night. It is such a horrible movie. Just some crazy family kills a lot of people. Great and original subject!I knew it was fake and it is also obvious from just watching the movie.
Based off a true story...bleh...the only thing the movie had in common with Gein was using human skin. 99% of the it is based on sick imagination.
