A thought just popped into my head. Think we could hold an OT Debate Tournament? Like the NBA one?People sign up, and different topics are set in each matchup to debate on. Anyone up to this?Let's go with 16 people, and we'll need some judges too. Let's go with 4.Rules-We will do a single elimination format. Each matchup will get 5 days to debate their assigned topic. I'd be in but I doubt this would ever happen since the NBA one isn't even working. We'd need some bipartisan judges because a lot of guys are a lot stronger opinioned on politics than on hoops and would most likely just vote for the people of their party
Again, it's a good idea, but all the NBA debate contest have been poorly organized and run. My suggestion is to first figure out how to run it, and then go ahead and go through with it.
Ok, but Yanks, you gotta make sure you'll keep everything going and updated. Keep it on a smooth pace. We could use one more person to run it. And some UNBIASED judges.
I don't think this'll work here. There aren't really that many knowledgable members on politics here which is the reason I wouldn't do it myself. I just like to post in the threads.

It's all in good fun ASU. I'm not very knowledgeable in Politics either, but it'll be fun if run correctly, something the NBA debates lacked.
I might have an interest in doing this, it depends on the topics. there's some topic which no matter how hard I try I cannot defend or even argue.
Now, I've been trying to figure out how to assign the topics. Like Redneck mentioned, it's harder debating random topics in Politics because there is a lot you could be neutral on, don't know about, or can't debate.How about this idea?Yankshater and I will come up with some topics, and it's first come, first serve basis? The two people debating can pick which one they want? Or we could just assign like normal and switch if needed?
im in I love debatesalthough I like it better in real life where u just have to think and u dont have the computer to work with you gotta use your words and how u say your words and what u have in your brain and I also like interrupting people
Im in as well. And who says that an OT debate has to be confined to politics? Can be about anything! Politics is just what comes to mind first when you think of the word "debate".
