    Why does it have to be this way just because that is how Obama did it as well? There should be transparency. Who remembers Nancy Pelosi saying Obamacare needed to be passed so we could find out what was in it.

    Everyone remembers that, because it was a talking point the right repeated constantly. While the Obamacare process certainly could have and should have been more transparent, it was vastly more public than the current bill.

    July 2009: House Democrats unveil their 1,000-page plan for overhauling the health care system. House committees begin crunching the details and voting on provisions.

    March 23, 2010: President Obama signs the Affordable Care Act into law.

    The plan was debated and revised for ~8 months before passage. There were numerous hearings, committee meetings, amendments, etc.

    But Harry Reid threw that all out and wrote a new Bill in private that wasn't passed by an actual vote, only a parliamentary trick. A trick that republicans will now use, thanks to precedent.

    That isn't true (the part about throwing it all away and writing a new bill in secret). The parliamentary trick part is accurate, and yes, Republicans are planning to do the same.
