(Also specify the year's version of the player, or roughly thereabouts, because obviously the current versions wouldn't help much.)

Since our biggest weakness is PF, I'd say it's between Maurice Lucas ('77), Buck Williams ('90 ish), Brian Grant ('99 ish) or 'Sheed (same).

I'm going with Sheed. I think his game is, if anything, better suited to the current NBA. My only qualm is his not-great rebounding, but he would complement Nurkic very well, both defensively and with his outside shooting. Plus I miss the craziness and the athleticism.

Second choice: Scottie Pippen, the year we acquired him. He could be Rich Man's Batum for us.

Hey, think of this as "what Blazer of the past should we hope our draft pick is most like" and you can make it relevant!

I'm going Sheed, but I had a post about that right after we got Nurk. Sheed would fit this lineup so well.

Agreed on Sheed. Plus the attitude is sorely needed on this team.

Hard to pick just one....Sheed would be perfect...so would Jerome Kersey.....for guys still playing I'd go with a healthy Wes Mathews or a motivated Nic Batum with the roster we have now. Also a guy who would've been one of the greatest if he'd stuck here and lived longer...Drazen Petrovic....Dame with Drazen would have been amazing...healthy BRoy and Dame would have been a hell of a pairing.

I think actually Batum's passing with Nurk would've been beautiful to watch...

What am I missing, thinking I'd take a healthy Walton over just about anyone else in Blazers' history, and figure out how to make Nurk work with him?

CLyde was 6'7. Probably make a hell of a small forward.....

What's the team desperately searching for? That third scorer. Clyde could play the two and the three and maybe on some occasions the four. Yeah, Clyde makes great sense.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Another vote for 'Sheed. I've said a couple of times before that he was simply ahead of this time--he'd be the ideal power forward for the NBA today. Great, long defender who could switch onto anyone and shooting range out to three.

Scottie Pippen and Rod Strickland would be great.....Rod to Nurk would've been like Rod to Sabo....bring CJ off the bench..let Rod run the point...Dame off the ball.

    C: Walton
    PF: Sheed
    SF: Pippen
    SG: Drexler
    PG: Lillard

That'd be a fun lineup. Tons of passing, tons of scoring, some defensive pillars.

That's the hope. The fact that he didn't last a full 20 games without getting hurt is yet another concern about a big man and potential injuries going forward. Not sure I would trust my short term or long term hopes on that.
