Butler, George, Porzingas.....all want to be moved. We have more 1st round picks than anyone.....and yet I don't see any one of them coming here.
So everyone had just spent the last month convincing everyone else we have the assets to get Paul George... how exactly do we not have the assets to get Porzingas?
Because George has said he wants out, and becomes a UFA next summer, whereas Porzingis still has two more years left on his roookie deal, and then is an RFA after that. Team control over a player for 3-7 years massively trumps team control over 1, so Porzingis' trade value is significantly higher than George's.
I mean if zach Lowe suggested offering harkless, aminu, two firsts for George then for sure we could get porzingis. Problem is celtics have more to offer. Either way I think porzingis is gone, didn't show up to exit interview, was very vocal about the Carmelo situation. Now this. I think he's for sure gone.
George is a one-year rental and then gone. Porzingis has three years of team control and isn't guaranteed to bolt even then. The value of the two players in trade is massively, massively different.
Right okay makes sense I'm getting way too excited for no reason because we know Portland won't do anything, except maybe extend Meyers Leonard and start him
There is almost NO WAY I want 'Melo but if it took him to do the Porzingis deal, I'd do it if we could ship out some of out bigger contracts on younger players. Crabbe, Turner and 2 first round picks for Porzingis and 'Melo. That isn't great return for New York but the cost of unloading Carmelo's contract and starting over with picks and younger players.
KP is prolly in the top 10 among all players for overall trade value when you consider talent, age, and contract situation. PG is up there talent wise, but the rental fear associated with him brings his value wayyyyyyy down. Pacers can maybe expect $0.25 on the dollar.
Boston still has #3 and a boat load of assets and future picks as well, can't see them having a problem putting together a package
