    No, lopez contract is expiring. They'll sign him after next year. BTW, they still have ingram and ball in this scenario, so maybe in a few years

    How does trading the guy you took with the 2nd pick two years ago for a center that's already past his prime == help?

    They are already gutting their roster of young "talent" to get Paul George, which will leave them with nothing left to offer Indy.

    This move is not about getting George help, it's a salary dump of Mozgov's contract - and they had to give away a former No. 2 pick to do it. Lopez is an expiring contract who they will let walk to offer PG13 and somebody else big free agent deals next summer.

    If anything, this says the Lakers are not trading for Paul George, they are waiting until they can sign him outright. The time to pounce is now. Get PG13 to POR and let him see what it feels like be part of a Big 4, the youngest Big 4 in the league and all thoughts of being part of the Lakers rebuilding effort will go out the window.
