I honestly wouldn't waste a first round draft pick on him . Not even the 22nd pick. This guy has shown nothing at UConn this year, he's only had good blocking games against some of the worst teams on UConn's schedule. The only thing he's shown is being 7'3". I've watched him three times, all he does is jog around on defense, is not a good rebounder, has terrible legs, doesn't understand basketball at all, doesn't play aggressive, doesn't seem to care, has no idea what he's doing on either side of the ball, on offense he only scores off tipin's from him being bigger than everyone else. The guy from reports doesn't put in work at practise, sighs when asked to do work, poor attitude. I would not waste a first rounder on this dud. I don't care how much potential he has. Like in my personal quote, hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard. Maybe if this kid had a work ethic I would cut him some slack, but he doesn't. Guys like him that came into college, like Roy Hibbert have great work ethics....I don't like Hasheem Thabeet at all, any team picking him inside the top 15 is a fool and I think, doesn't care about winning basketball games.

I think it's to high of a risk though, if this guy is drafted at all it should be in the 2nd round. With that said he should stay in college and improve on his game and attitude.

If he's going to be a player in the NBA one day, he'll need four years at the collegiate level first.. He's got sky-high potential because of his size and defensive abilities, but he still has a LONGGG way to go..

Honestly, other than shotblocking he has no defensive skills...he has no skills right now at all.

He has raw talent..he has lots of potential but he's a work-in-progress...needs to be tweaked really badly in pretty much every way you can think of..He's one of the people that needs all 4 of those years of college..but his family needs the money like he said so I'm not gonna hate... :dunno:

I agree he's as raw as they come. I agree with you guys, I think he needs more years at college to develop everything, literally. I could definately see some Gm's taking a chance on him. Once they start hearing comparisons of Dikembe Mutombo, they'll start to salvate. Also, he's 7' 3'', if there is one thing we know about the NBA Draft, it's that anyone will take a chance on a big. He's projected to be a top 10 pick right now, I hope he stays in college to develop his game, he will get EMBARRESSED if he enters the NBA right now.

He isn't ready, but if there was anybody to get him ready it would be Jim Calhoun. He developed Okafor in from a shot blocking average freshman to a player of the year candidate defensive stopper with an average offensive game junior.

Hasheem Thabeet doesn't like doing extra work and has barely improved at all this year.... The question is, would you take him with a first round pick this year? I'd honestly rather have Nick Fazekas.

I would rather have Fazekas also. That is this year though. If he stays 2 years, even next year, he will be a completely different and better player.

As a UConn fan, and future student I can fill you in on Thabeet I think he is raw, he is a big player, but he is still young and needs to stay at UConn, I am not sure he would be drafted even in the 2nd round this year.

Yeah, he is really making the biggest mistake of his life. He isn't developed at all as a Center. He will be taken alot higher once he learns some post moves and has alot of success with UConn. He would be killed in the NBA right now, and he would have to take very slow steps to getting playing time if he went into the draft this year.
