You're not answering the question to the OP. There are plenty of other threads in which to bitch about NO's 2017 draft. Please stay on topic.

Not sure how realistic this is in terms of value, but that can be overcome with picks if necessary. Looking more for fits in terms of skillset/salary/etc...

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yarmapgh - Jordan might be trying to make a move, bringing in Howard, so moving two young and relatively ineffective players for a vet (from UNC, no less) might make sense for him. Orlando is rebuilding again, so a stretch 5 and a young athletic wing might make more sense for them. We bring in 2 young talents on cheap contracts for ED. Would allow us to ostensibly "lose" in deals that send out AC, Turner, Meyers, whoever and maintain the overall talent/value level...

I don't think Orlando trades Payton. He's their starter and he's only 23.

I won't pretend to be intimately familiar with their situation, but I was under the impression that they were very much *over* him... If that's not the case, then you're probably very right...

Luwawu still interests me. I wouldn't be opposed.

They might be, but their other point guards are DJ Augustin and CJ Watson. Not really anyone waiting in the wings. So maybe they'd want another point guard prospect.

Will you stop acting like it's two years ago and he still has a ton of value?

probably not, but the Pacers are going to have to trade him, they are running out of time. They will trade him before next season. His stock is going down and if they wait till the deadline nobody is going to want him except shitty teams trying to do salary dumps....if the Pacers don't trade him now he might end up walking away for nothing. They can get the most for him now.

I don't understand why so many on this board are so quick to throw Moe into deals... He's literally still younger than some of the guys in yesterday's draft, still developing, seems happy in his role and is supposedly still developing (to say nothing of his very reasonable contract...)

Meyers I get. Crabbe and Turner I can at least wrap my head around. But I'd be treating Moe as though he was a top 3 or 4 pick in this draft, not a trade throw-in...

I don't think he's a throw in... I think he's one of the only guys that has value that we can trade. For all of the reasons you listed and because he's on a reasonable contract, he's really our best option at getting a team to bite.

I don't think he has a ton of value. But I think there are at least 3 or 4 other teams that can and will always outbid our best offer. There's no realistic chance he's traded here.

I think this trade is fair. Maybe get the Magic a draft pick to sweeten the deal.

    Magic:
-They need Turner more than they need another big man, Lin is a better facilitator and shooter than Payton and his contract is relatively fair.
-Some people at Orlando are pushing to get rid of Payton for a loooong time.
-They get rid of Augustin's contract.

    Nuts:
-They get rid of Mozgov's horrible contract and replace him with Biyombo who is younger and more athletic.
-They get the young player they wanted (Crabbe).
-Leonard played well against them and he's still young, maybe they want to try.
    -They get rid of Nicholson

    Blazers:
-Booker is a good starter at PF.
-Payton can come off the bench and try to be Tony Allen next to CJ or Dame. A cheap experiment.
-After 2 years only ~23 Million are owed per year to trash players in Nicholson and Mozgov as oppose to keep paying ~46 Million per year for Leonard,Crabbe and Turner.

Not to smell my own fart here, but i think this trade is brilliant.:ygrin:

    1) I disagree with that. Aminu, Davis, Crabbe, Turner all have trade value.
    2) I also don't think we need some massive, league-changing trade... Paul George wouldn't give us the edge over GS, even if he came for free... My only expectation of Neil in the next year is to find deals that allow us financial flexibility and keep the bench stocked (with ED and Aminu leaving...)

In 2 years, a core of Dame, CJ, Moe, Collins and Nurk will be DAMN formidable and (hopefully) peaking right when Cleveland and GS start to break up. Just need to add pieces around that and make sure you can keep those guys together.

I think if Indy was going to get a nice haul for him, similar to what Chicago got for Butler, it would have happened last night. There were rumors that Boston was in serious talks for him. I guess we'll see.

George basically killed his value. I will be really shocked if they're able to pull decent value for him.
