It's just a topic. It doesn't have to upset you. I'm capable of talking about my race without getting upset.

TT was 240ish (before he bloated the fuck up) and always got pushed around in the post.

It's not all about size/weight. It's about center of gravity and foot placement. Guys like Wes aren't huge, but they're able to get low and leverage their weight to keep people from backing them down.

He doesn't need to be 250-260. 240 is a good weight.

He's a PF with a 9'3 standing reach. Plumlees a C with a 9'0 standing reach. There size is much different. Collins has elite size for his position, while Plumper has below average for his.

Collins doesn't need to put on more bulk to defend PFs well. In actuality, it'd probably hurt him. He'd backup Nurk at C while going against other bench Cs who wouldn't abuse him inside even now.

Anyone who becomes a star in the NBA has to overcome tremendous odds.

He reminds me of McHale offensively because of his footwork, seeking contact. He also seems to be very good at going up straight when contesting jumpshots, which is another thing I remember from McHale. I think that he is seems more nimble guarding the perimeter, but I might be wrong, it is just not something that I associate with McHale without checking it.

-Scoring is not an attribute either.
-I want to emphasize again that i don't think Collins will be a bad player, i just see a lower ceiling and more risk with him.

I think 240 -245 is ample. So maybe 15 lbs in 2-3 years? I say he starts out at PF and as he gets older, and naturally bigger, he plays more center. I don't think the extra weight/muscle helped LMA. Tyson Chandler is a pretty good defensive center and his listed weight is 240.

He doesn't have McHale's freakish arms, but I agree that he does carry himself like McHale and has a lot of the same moves. Would love to see him end up like McHale, but would love even more to see him end up like Laimbeer. Old school sending Drayond Green to the floor with a clothesline.

Maybe we should bring in Przybilla to help with his boxing skills and general attitude. Would love to see teams coming into Portland saying "ugh, going to have to ice my whole body tonight after getting popped by Nurk and Collins all night."

    It's like Kevin McHale

Edit: Haha crap. Meant to quote the footwork comment. His footwork blows my mind.

I don't mean to be discounting Olshey, he is after all the "decider" (along with Paul Allen of course); but my gut feeling is they both rely heavily on their advanced metrics guys when it comes to college players. Either way, so far, so good.

Cody Zeller? I will be extremely shocked if Collins isn't significant better than Zeller, at everything.

    Only time will tell.

cmon....next we'll be talking about all the Asian airplane pilots...then the West Indian taxi drivers...then the Irish Cops...pretty soon it's 1952 all over again...we should all make a collective effort to stop color coding as a stat
