I want to keep Vonleh kid really started to break out last year especially playing alongside Nurk. He also had a nice playoff series. Bad time to trade away a kid that is just now turning the corner.
Trading either one of those guys will problely get back a small foward hopefully better. But Turner can play small foward too. Your now loaded with players that can play the 4/5 position that means that Aminu will move back to 3 and if that happens then between Harkless and Turner and Aminu and even Crabbe sometimes can play that 3. So some where's with those players someone is not going get minutes. The one that don't do good coming off the bench is Harkless he does his best work as a starter. So who do you bench. Now it doesn't have to be those two players it also could be Turner or Crabbe. But due to there contracts and if you another GM which one those contracts would you want. Now remember all 4 of those players are decent players that might help someone. I believe Harkless and Aminu contracts look better to me then other two.
Wonder if the Hawks would make this trade. They could use another ball handler/shot creator. We could use a guy who does a little bit of everything. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y9k88z6q Could be such a marginal change that it's not worth it, and we would be better off keeping ET. I like Bazemores game though, but he's missed some games the past years.
HE'S OVERPAID BECAUSE HE'S NOT A CONSISTENT STARTER AND DOESN'T GET THE MINUTES TO SCORE THE AMOUNT OF POINTS HE NEEDS TO JUSTIFY THE CONTRACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why do people not understand this? Your Allen Crabbe hate is clouding your judgement.
I overvalue the shit out of our guys. I think Neil Olshey overvalues the shit out of our guys as well. However, I absolutely refute the idea that we need to pay a price to unload any of these players. I think a major thing that some people are over looking is that it's crazy to complain about a general manager that drafted so well and traded assets so well that all their contracts come up at the same time and we need to actually need to pay these players. If Paul Allen is willing to pay some lux tax for a minute its no big deal at all. It's not like Portland was the only team that went crazy, we just went crazy first. Go look at the cap situation for any team that has any talent. They're all gonna be capped the fuck out in a year or two. Compare Portland to any playoff team that the national media says is doing fine cap wise and didn't give out these "crazy contracts" The only problem is we gave these contracts out first. Next year, lets talk about Detroit, Let's talk about Oklahoma City, take a look at what Milwaukee has coming up. Let's talk about all the middling teams that gave out or will give out huge fucking contracts other than the Blazers. Except we gave them out earlier and for less money. The fact is that every team that drafts a good player or two has a window. It's between when the rookie scale ends, and when the real money begins. Our window was last year, and because no one wants to play here we ended up with Evan Turner, who by the way is a former number 2 pick and can absolutely play up to his contract. The windows for a lot of teams are coming up, and because their ownership isn't as loaded as ours, they will have to make tough and bad decisions. See: OKC in 2012 with Harden. In summary, when these contracts expire, all at the same time by the way, we'll be fucking gold. In the meantime we're making decent moves to get better.
He hasn't lived up to where he was picked - just like Vonleh. Two top-10 picks though. I think it's a fair deal for both teams.
Easy on the all caps and huge font. My eyes aren't bad enough (yet) that I need the large print edition of this forum. Crabbe averaged 28.5 MPG. He was 3rd on the team in total minutes played, behind only Dame and C.J. This isn't about a lack of minutes. Crabbe doesn't score more for two reasons: he's way too passive and he cannot create his own shot. Meyers Fucking Leonard is more capable of creating his his own shot and creating for others than Allen Crabbe. Hate has nothing to do with it. Look up the stats if you don't believe me. BNM
He may not be a starter, but he is getting consistent minutes. He averages 25+ minutes a game. Players with skills will show their skills on the court with that much playing time. He hasn't shown that he's good at ANYTHING else than shooting wide open 3s
You think the bold type I highlighted isn't a cause of each other? If Crabbe went to Indiana in a trade for say Paul George and Monta Ellis. Crabbe would be the next best player on that team with Myles Turner. No doubt in my mind. Crabbe has to defer to Dame and CJ(and now Nurkic and probably Collins now too) because he is strictly a role player on this team, he wouldn't be on a rebuilding Indiana team. Let me make one thing clear though, Just because he would be a starter on a rebuilding Indiana team doesn't mean I think or don't think who would lead Indiana into the playoffs. My argument is he would 'live up to his contract'. My last message was all in caps and huge font to prove a point, you know that isn't how I normally type on here.
On his own team I don't think that is true. Why are we even arguing about this? No one can be proven right until he is on a team where he is Batman or Superman(Not the Green Arrow or Hawkman.)
So, he'd be the 2nd best player on one of the worst teams in the league? Yeah, I could see that. It's pretty much his ceiling. You can talk about deferring to others, but that doesn't change the fact that Crabbe can't create for himself and he doesn't create for others. He has a very weak handle and can't take his man off the dribble. A change of scenery won't change that. If anything, it will be even more exposed when he doesn't have Dame, C.J. and Nurk drawing all the defensive attention and kicking out to Crabbe for wide open catch and shoot 3-pointers. BNM
If he sucks so bad and can't do anything else besides shoot wide open catch and shoot 3-pointers then how in the hell was he Pac-12 Player of the Year? Crabbe can take his man off the dribble, he showed us he could at the beginning of the season and occasionally during the rest of the season. He also showed us a step back shot last season and has gotten to the rim and finished at times last season too he just didn't show it all the time because he is a good little soldier and stayed in his lane because he is just a role player on this team. (Green Arrow/Hawkman)
At everything else, he does. He's a great shooter, that's it. Poor defender, ball handler, passer, etc.
