Same for Malcolm X (he didn't get his day, but that's cuz he didn't exactly preach peace).

Or Tupac (and I know people are going to say he died in a coast rivalry, but look at what he went through before he died).

I don't know who killed MLK, Malcolm, JFK, Abraham Lincoln, etc.

I knew who is claimed to kill most of these folks though.

 

That's why he was killed. After his pilgrimage to Mecca, where he saw people of all skin tones worshiping, he began to preach togetherness.

 

He was killed by the Nation of Islam. He publicly said they were trying to kill him. And then they shot him like 20 times while he was speaking.

 

So I guess not even black people like outspoken black people right?

 

Oh, yeah. But that's not how his memory is portrayed to this day. MLK is known as a man of togetherness and inclusion and always has been.

They make jokes about the "token black dude" in movies and other parts of media. Don't get me wrong, I in no way am trying to diminish MLK the man or his accomplishments, but he's been made the token. Y'all only get one.

This will get twisted, but I'm trying to emphasize the way the atmosphere has only allowed so much...

I don't disagree with that, but I think you bring race into too many discussions where race has nothing to do with the subject. This man would be getting the same treatment if he was white.

Actually, since part of our society is prejudiced and doesn't like "outspoken black people", that would make Lavar a more volatile figure to those people, thus garnering more attention and thus, building his name and his brand. Garnering a lot of negative attention is beneficial to him.
