OT Canadian elite special forces sniper makes record-breaking kill shot in Iraq

The M16 firing the 5.56 round is a spray a pray weapon. Throw out a bunch of lead and pray you hit something a bunch of times to knock it down.

There are a lot of good rounds, but yeah the 50 caliber is overkill, unless you are hunting bulldozers.

I know it is not the absolute best round, but I stay with the 30.06. It is a one and done round, with lots of powder and projectile options, available everywhere.

Every time I consider upgrading my 30.06 to a flatter shooting round, the small improvement does not come into play until very long distance. My eyes are not as good as they used to be, and I have no plans to shoot over 300 yards anymore. It put an elk and a deer in my freezer last fall.

 

Hey! That will work. I think I will wait for some one to bring me some, otherwise the butcher shop will do. If I have to do my own then I probably get out the old .308 99 Savage I have had for sixty two years now.
