Is this the year we finally address our need for a big man coach? Or are we going to dick around with Collins' and Swanigan's careers until they end up as end-of-bench towel-waivers? Hopefully we don't rely on Terry "Every Big Man Is The Next Dirk" Stotts being the one who guides their career development...
We do have a big man coach - a 6'6" former small forward with zero minutes of NBA experience. But hey, he once averaged 3.5 rpg playing in Europe. That has to count for something. BNM
I'm not sure if this is a joke or a serious suggestion, but I was going to suggest the same thing. There are few, if ANY things that are more important from now until the trade deadline than Meyers being(?)/turning into(?)/looking like a real NBA player, and if hiring Hughes, even as a consultant for the year brings the best out of him so we can trade him for positive value, he'd be absolutely worth it...
It was semi serious. I thought he did a good job while he was here, but I doubt the Blazers would ever re-hire him.
Probably right on all counts. Kind of funny in hindsight, given that the best franchise of the past 2 decades can't seem to give Lamarcus away all of a sudden...
I believe this is confirmation of his new hiring, looks like in Italy: http://www.messinasportiva.it/kim-h...velopment-coach-della-betaland-capo-dorlando/
It's concerning to me, because it reminds me of the Ducks after Chip Kelly and Allioti left. They kept hiring shit defensive coordinators, and it essentially took a total rebuild of the coaching staff to actually bring in some decent coaches at key positions. Stotts might be a good coach, but if he can't put a decent support staff around him, that reflects poorly on him. We haven't had a good big man coach since Tim Grgurich.
But isnt terry like the big man whisperer? He has wayyy more successes than failures when it comes to bigs when you think about it. Plums LA Davis Nurk ROLO all played the best of their respective careers under Stotts and have looked a whole lotta meh elswhere. He seems to really have a way of getting the best out of our bigs despite all of them perceived as having flaws coming in. Back off my man Stotts on this one, he's all the big man coach we need.
I thought LA played his best under Nate? Maybe I'm wrong there. But I seem to recall LA getting softer and softer the longer he played under Tater Totts. He utilized Plumlee well, but Plumlee had already developed his entire skill set before he came to Portland. Ditto Rolo. You're really gonna give Terry credit for Nurk? Whatever. Davis sucks. I don't blame that on Terry, but he certainly doesn't deserve a feather in his cap.
lol come on now I shouldnt have to defend this youre wrong and you know it. I didnt say he made bad players allstars but on that list, who got worse as a blazer? The honest answer is that they all became better and more highly coveted players, after playing for terry. Get your BS outta here just cause you hate the coach. I'm not always the biggest fan of stotts but come on now, youre just being obtuse.
Rolo & Plumlee. That's who your argument rests on. You don't get Nurk. And Davis doesn't support your argument. LA played his strongest under Nate. He may have gotten more shot attempts under Terry, but he played his best under Nate.
