Knicks are no better off or worse than they were when he took over the job! The mistake was in signing Carmelo to a ridiculous contract (no-trade clause).

He's still regarded as one of the (if not THE) best coach of all time. But, he's also now proven that success at coaching doesn't necessarily translate to management duties.

Good move by the Knicks, but they should have made it 3 months ago.

Collins is thin. Meyers is weak. Meyers may be bigger, but Collins plays stronger - both mentally and physically.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
The game has passed Jackson by, though it's not clear he ever had the talent to be an executive. Just as a great player doesn't necessarily make for a great coach, a great coach doesn't necessarily make for a great executive. That said, he seemed to be unable to connect with players anymore (a strength when he was a coach) and, in general, gave the impression of someone more interested in asserting dominance than in building a modern team.

Phil Jackson isn't the one to blame. It's James Dolan. You make it sound like Jackson caused all the mess.

Yes, yes I do. I can hear the words out of his mouth - he's idiotic and unprofessional.

And to think some posters on this board argued for Paul Allen to do whatever it took to hire Phil at the time...... for the Blazers. I cringe every time I think of it. Someone needs to find it and bump the thread.

I remember hearing about how we tried to get Phil to be the gm years ago and was disappointed that it didn't happen. Dodged a huge bullet there.

That team won't improve until Dolan is gone. Let's not pretend like this is the first train wreck GM they've had. Isiah Thomas trumps them all.

The Clippers enjoyed a few years of being a relevant playoff team, and are now going back to being a laughing stock that they had been for most of their history, especially if Blake leaves too.

Sounds like Houston must have been tampering with Paul too if he was already informing the Clippers he was signing there 3 days before free agency even starts.
