I love that on June 30th (with 18 mill in cap space) we are already punting on not just this season, but the following season as well...awesome stuff. Sounds like Shatt won't be here, and that is fine by me. He'll get a huge deal, and that money is difficult to turn down. Good for him going for the money if he does, certainly his right. Maybe he plays in NJ so he is close to his home city still. Doubt it is TB since he passed on them at the trade DL. I would guess NJ or maybe Buffalo if he wants the money. As for us, let's see what Gorton does. I think Thornton and Marleau are in play also for the right deals.
Didn't Brooks say we aren't trading Stepan the morning we traded him? Rumors swirling that Rangers trying to get both Thornton and Marleau on 1 yr deals.
Typical bs from this management signing over the hill vets to cater to hank. Whats the point of wasting money now.
He certainly did say that Disturbed. Bottom line is it appears very clear Shatt will choose between more years and money with NJ or Buffalo or another team OR playing for the NYR on a home town discount. He'd still be paid well overall, but he'll get less years and a smaller AAV with us. Usually players don't leave a lot of money on the table, so I think he may go for the money. As for Thornton and Marleau, I would be 100% fine with them for 1 year...where's the downside.
Shatt isn't all that great. Skjei had an amazing year offensively and DeAngelo has huge offensive upside. Hockey players earn every penny they get. Unlike the dogs in the NBA and pussies in MLB. So I have no problem with Shatts going for the money. Didn't want him with Graves, Day and Zborovskiy in the wings not to mention the two UFA D guys we signed. If Day has a big year in the AHL this season, look for McDonagh to get dealt for the mother load next off season.
That is very interesting. AV's have no clue. What morons. He's a good faceoff guy. He's a guy I would love to have here.
I wouldn't mind Grigorenko. This type of guys they should sign. I would rather have them take a chance on guys like grigorenko or yakupov than marleus or thorntons.
Not many rumors on the rangers dealings and I like Gorton being stealth. Should be interesting next week or 2
As usual Chuck is already going back to his dumb philosophy of wanting to sign every FA out there and trading all our picks. He never learns.
It clearly is a home town discount in years, 4 instead of 6 or 7, but not in AAV. I don't love the AAV of 6.9, but I am fine with the # of years if it happens...actually I feel great about the # of years. 4 years is a huge HR for us. In order to get him to agree to only 4 years we bumped up the AAV.
