I know this may seem farfetched but..they have a draft pick they traded to the Suns that is top 3 protected..they have a good chance at finishing near the bottom of standings with only 23 wins..and I came across this..<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Joe Johnson could be out three to four weeks, and possibly the remainder of the season due to a deep contusion in his right calf muscle. Johnson was kicked in the leg by teammate Esteban Batista early in Monday's loss to Miami and was later kneed in the thigh of the same leg by the Heat's Eddie Jones. He played through both injuries. A hematoma formed under the calf muscle, and Johnson had to go to the hospital early Tuesday morning.</div>What do you think? Do you think they're just trying to be safe with Johnson for long-term purposes..or are they trying to get that pick back by "resting" Johnson?
Well I definitely think they're saving him until he's 100%, like the Celtics did with Pierce. I doubt they're tanking, but they definitely want that pick, which is why keeping Johnson out for as long as they can with at least a semi-good excuse is probably their best bet.
They're not tanking, that would be completely dumb and bad for the team.. We want Joe back at 100% and nothing short of it.. We know we really don't have a chance so we might as well rest him up, make sure he's 100% then get him back out there.
I hope they are, simply because they help the Mavs in the process. Suns don't get a lottery pick and Mavs get a higher 2nd rounder.

I don't think Atl is tanking, and even if they were there's no way they end up with a worse record than the Celtics since they just lost both Ryan Gomes and Delonte West.
They dont just suck, they are very young...even there star player is pretty young. There 5th pick isnt going to do much until a couple years, Claxton hasnt worked out, Josh Smith and Childress are good, but still developing. They have talent, they just need a couple years...just like every team did or will need.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Claxton hasnt worked out</div>What is his deal this season? Injuries? He was a good point guard for the past three seasons,

Half the time he barely even hits the rim. He's a pretty good passer at times but he still turns the ball over when he shouldn't. Basically he can't shoot for crap, can't create for himself, can't penetrate very well, pretty good defender..
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>No team tanks games...ugh...Whenever I here the word 'tanking' it just pisses me off.</div>I know what you're saying. There is a post-game show in Boston called Celtics Pride with jeff hickman and patrick gilroy and the other night they had Bill Walton on for an intereview. The whole time Walton was like why is Boston trying? why is paul pierce playing? why is al jefferson playing so well? He never said they should tank but anyone that knows anything could tell he was implying that Boston should tank. I remember thinking to myself how could a former NBA champion, with the Boston Celtics, be saying this over the radio where loyal Celtics fans are listening? We all want a good draft pick but who the hell is watching their team wanting them to lose? I get somewhat pissed myself when I hear the subject of tanking.
Teams don't tank period, only stupid fans in my opinion believe teams tank games, coaches and GM's have way too much sh*t on the line to lose games on purpose. I've listened to the CelticsPride podcasts before, those guys put me to sleep and one of them is just a complete moron...don't know his name...but he calls Pauly fat...etc...
The Hawks are tanking? YES and NO.Yes because Greg Oden might declare, NO because he might not.Yes because Kevin Durant might declare, draft him and trade him for somebody valuableNO because BK might draft him and ACTUALLY KEEP HIM!!! Yes because the Hawks are thinking #3 and welcome a biggie like Hawes, Horford or JianlianNO because the Hawks' pick would end up #4 and go to Suns :no1: And for pete's sake, return to where you belong you Celtics crazies... open up your Celtic topics elsewhere. This is Hawks page and get rid of those Celtics OTs. Damn... :wtf1:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>This is Hawks page and get rid of those Celtics OTs. Damn...</div>I was just using them as an example of the whole tanking subject. Something you Hawks fan should pretty damn familiar with.

Since when are you able to determine who the stupid fans and intelligent fans are almighty BCB?You don't think that there was at least a CHANCE the 96/97 Celtics tanked and the 02/03 Cavs tanked?Like I said..I know it sounds farfetched but with the state the Hawks are in..and the lack of a draft pick unless they get a top-3 pick..it may not be that farfetched after allMaybe the Hawks are just terrible thoughBut you can't say that nobody has ever tankedGetting Greg Oden on your team has more pros than it does cons....not to mention marketing and new "fans" that follow Oden

You're a great help. Anyway, I don't think the Hawks are losing because they want to get that higher percentage of ping-pong balls. They're losing because they're still a pure PG/defensive C/decent coach/GM away in getting into the playoffs and actually contend. They still stuck in that mediocre status right now.
