Hark and Turner better not see time at the 4.

Using Vonleh makes us thin at the 4...

I'm so done with Aminu at that spot.

I'm not really sold on Crowder starting at the PF position...

We need crowder a lot more than we need Vonleh. Not to mention Portland will most likely not pay Vonleh next summer. Makes him a prime trade candidate.

If we did get crowder for Vonleh then we better keep Aminu.

We cannot trade Davis or Aminu for Crowder because it doesn't help Celtics with the cap space as they are making pretty much the same as he does. Would we be even allowed to send Vonleh for him when the salaries are about $5M off and we are already above cap space? I think we'd need to send out more. Maybe:

    Davis to somewhere
2nd round pick from somewhere, Vonleh, lottery protected 2018 Portland pick to Celtics
    Crowder to Portland

Yeah, we really needed to have the Ezeli contract to be of interest to Boston.

I'm glad people here can follow conversations and understand sarcasm. Get Jae Crowder at any cost!

Crowder makes just under 6.8m. Vonleh is at 3.5m. Add connaughtons non guaranteed 1.5m and I think it works. I've read Boston needs to save a tad less than 3m.

Actually, I don't think it does work. Because we're over the apron, incoming can't be more than 125% + 100K of outgoing (as opposed to 150% for most teams). 125% of 5.0 is 6.25. 6.8M incoming is too high for Vonleh + Connaughton.

Team 3 could also send BOS a non-guaranteed contract if they're over the cap instead of sending out cash.

    Mine was Aminu and a 2018 1st.

However, too save them $3M, I'd try to flip Layman for an unguaranteed contract, then send the unguaranteed contract out with Connaughton and Vonleh (and maybe a future 1st) in order to match salaries while saving BOS $3M and getting them a PF (which they need).

Say we sent out Vonleh, Connaughton, and Layman for Crowder. Were have ET, Crabbe, and Moe all coming off the bench, and their wouldn't be enough minutes.

Should we try to combine Harkless and Davis or Aminu for a starting PF? Who would be available?

Or would we see if we could trade Crabbe, which would almost get us below the luxury tax?

I think they ll use Crowder+picks to get a starter. No way we have a good enough offer to get Crowder. If they made a trade with a team like us that doesn't have a starter to offer it would only be for the Celtics to create cap space, not get more salary back than they give away.

Only a 3+ team trade can involve us and the Cs.

What starter could they get for Crowder? They have to save money, and Crowder only makes $6M.

Vonleh+Connaughton(U.G.C.)+U.G.C. From a 3rd team (who we send Layman too would be a great start.

Boston would get a young borderline starter at a position of need (PF), who fits what they need in a PF (Defender+PnR Target), as well as save the required amount to sign Hayward.

I'm really sorry to say but if you think this is enough to get Crowder you probably don't know anything about Ainge and how he works. He will not just give away one of the best contracts in the league to dump salary. He'll make something out of it. Definitely not a player like Vonleh who is also a RFA next summer and he ll need a big raise.

I don't understand why the Celtics would move Crowder, who is locked in super cheap, when they could just as easily move smart or Bradley, who they'll have to give new contracts to soon.

Because he plays the same position as Tatum and Hayward.

They will probably get better offers, but this IS a salary dump. They need to dump enough salary to be able to actually sign Hayward to that contract they just offered him. I'm sure when they were working out their offer, they were already planning on dumping Crowder to give Hayward as much as possible.

Yes, Crowder is a good player on a great contract, but with Tatum and Hayward on board, he becomes expendable.

Well yes when you try to offload a player to create space it's salary dump, but I don't think they;ll do it with Crowder who has an extremely valuable contract. They can create the space with Smart that is RFA next year and they wouldn't sign him anyway. They'll probably use Crowder to get a good trade. I think dumping Rozier and Mickey is enough too, but they probably prefer Rozier to Smart as he is tied for one more year with just 2M.
