So trade Crabbe or Turner. Who will be easier to trade next summer. Easy ways to work around it. Never say to an all-star talent because of money. I don't think Paul would either.

I was thinking the same thing except:

    POR Gets: Anderson, Crowder
    NYK Gets: Harkless, Leonard, Aminu
    BOS Gets: 2018 RTS w/ POR, 2020 HOU 1st
    HOU Gets: Carmelo

    Lillard / McCollum / Napier
    McCollum / Crabbe / Connaughton
    Crowder / Turner / Layman
    Anderson / Vonleh / Swanigan
    Nurkic / Collins / Davis

    15th-17th Men: ???

Avery Bradley is the bees knees. CJ and Dame would love to have him on our team so he can stop guarding the two of them. I'm under the impression after listening to some Celtics podcasts that the fanbase would much rather trade Bradley because of his upcoming new contract as opposed to Jae Crowder. I'm all in on that for sure.

I would still be trying to unload Crabbe to BKN. I think Washington will match Porter.

Knicks have offer sheet out to Hardaway Jr, and just waived Marshall Plumlee. Both moves look like SF out Post in.... but can also meek absolutely nothing too.

Why are you "certain" of that? All he's ever stated is that he'd be willing to pay it to contend for a championship (which we are certainly not doing). He has also stated that he never wants to go back to those decadent days of vastly over-paid rosters (which this one is). But he did agree to the signing's Neil made. Maybe he over-estimated the roster? He also could not have anticipated us adding another max-level player out of no where last y ear.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Except it's not "an All Star talent." It's a chance at one. Top five picks bust all the time, and it may not even end up being a top-five pick. You're proposing spending it an absolutely insane amount for probably a less than 50% chance at a star.

Trying to run up a gigantic tax bill now for the hope of more resources in 2020 is the kind of thing that sounds clever on paper, but would never happen in real life and probably shouldn't. Even Allen isn't going to run three years of huge luxury tax just to try and reload in 2020.

Trade Damian or CJ for a guy who is more complimentary (sort of like Golden State did with Curry and Ellis), throw in some of the bloated salaries (if possible) to get your cap in order and start thinking about loading up on assets in a post 2020 league, where the Warriors aren't the colossus astride the world. Of course by then you'll have other colossi to contend with like Milwaukee, the 76ers, Boston, Lakers, and whomever the hell else, but at least you won't be throwing good money after bad in a futile attempt to play catch-up with the Warriors.

That's like saying, "If you have a better way to make a billion dollars than my pyramid scheme, let me know." I don't (nor do I think Portland is going to get another with this core--the hope is that Nurkic is a third star) but that doesn't automatically make your plan a good one. Portland's best chance at another star probably lies in the Draymond Green route--pick a late-first round or second-round player who wildly outpaces expectations.

Or hope on Collins. He would only need to somewhat beat expectations to become a star.

We could just sit Lillard and CJ all year!! Another year of experience for all other "young" players and we earn a very low numbered draft selection.

Best part about this is 3 posts above is him saying, 'and people give me shit about my trade ideas.'

That's because you have some fascination with blowing up the team to make us awful and we get trade banged MASSIVELY most of the time.

In this case, we take on MASSIVE contracts that hinder our flexibility because we lose assets and retaining money, and in the off chance that we get the #1 pick from the NYK and that player turns out to be as good as LeBron James, we have little room to improve because we dissected the team of players and assets so we have no way of putting players around them. Then you'll complain why we don't have flexibility. This also assumes said player turns into Lebron James from day 1.

So essentially we blow up the team for a 5% chance at getting a franchise changing player that can contribute at a championship caliber immediately to match with CJ and Dame...

Or do you wanna trade them too and play around nurk and our #1 pick since they are younger and closer in age with Collins and Swanigan as well?

Knicks need to dump Carmelo and his huge contract.

Rockets need to dump Anderson and his worse than Allen Crabbe's contract.

    Blazers...not a dumping ground.

    Pass.

    (P.S. Fuck Trevor Ariza)
