What players never live up to the hype, but every now and then, they have a monster game outve nowhere and play like they were projected to play like?I make this topic because of Stromile Swift. He hadnt scored one point since Memphis played Golden St. a while back. He came out tonight and had 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. Sure, not outstanding stats, but the way he got them, he took over the game. Getting huge blocks, rebounding very well and getting us some offense. He also had a monster dunk your sure to see on the Top 10 list tonight, which changed the momentum of the game. But hes probably just teasing, hes always done this, he'll have a okay game next, then he'll go back to being that backup C who barely does anything smart. What other players are like this?

Kwame Brown- We all know his story. But every once in a while he'll show up with a decent performanceChris Kaman- Had a good year last Yeah. But now has sunken in. But still has a few good ones.Joe Smith- Taken with the #1 pick 12 years ago. Never lived up to it. But he can put down a decent performance every once in a whileGerald Green- Slowly improving but still hasnt made a great impact.

He will never be a top 15 center in the league, but he wasn't ever expected to be anything like he is.

He just turned 21 years old, he's in his 2nd year out of high school, and he has made more of an impact this year than anybody (including Doc) expected. There is no way he should be mentioned in this thread at all.A guy that DOES deserve a mention in here: Darius Miles.

Tayshaun Prince- he has the potential to be so good especially on the defensive end but sometimes he just seems to be not into the game or to be relaxing or whatever. Lately he has been very aggressive and playing very well and that's what the team needs from him. I think he has potential to be as good as a Shawn Marion, I think they're very similar players except Tayshaun just doesn't always have that killer instinct.

Darius Miles-Flashes of brilliance every now and then. But he's an apathetic, overpaid, underachieving bust as far as I'm concernedSebastian Telfair-I know he's still young but he had all the hype in the world, leading scorer out of NYC in high school, signed the shoe contract, had the documentary, I thought he would be contributing more right now. He's also been benched by two bad basketball teams (yeah I said it again) and has shown no significant improvements since coming in the league.Josh Childress-6th overall pick in 2004. He's the highest player picked in that draft not to do anything spectacular. I thought he would do more. He's averaging nearly 40 minutes a game and he's only putting up 12 PPG.Luke Jackson-Was supposed to be the next Brent Barry. Has had his injuries, but even when healthy has done nothing remarkable. Jarvis Hayes-I thought this was kid was going to be a great NBA player. I remember picking him as the steal of the draft. He's continiously been declining on the Wiz. Went from a servicable scorer to pretty much a random bench player.Mark Blount-Fits exactly what you're talking about AustinGriz. ALthough, he was never projected to be anything special he turned himself into a great center in 2003-2004. Was tough defensively, could score, and rebounded great. He turned into a lazy sell out after Dumbass Ainge gave him a $42 MIL contract in the 04-05 off-season. Scoring wise he's having the best year of his career in Minny. But for a 7'0'' guy with a strong body frame, this guy should be a hell of a lot better than he is. He just doesn't have the killer instinct. He has nights where he pulls down 24 & 22 then you don't hear from him for weeksMichael Olowokandi-I remember hearing comparisons in 1999 when some NBA analysits were calling him Wilt Jr. That's a laugh. Had the incredible size with none of the intangables. The former 1st overall is barley making a living as 3rd (seems like 4th) string F/C for the Boston Celtics. He's only played in 20 games this year.
