I'm more than willing to give the guy another chance. It'd be stupid to wish for the worst for a guy on your team lol.

Serious question: What does giving him another chance mean?

If you mean "don't cut him", I agree. If you mean "play him in front of highly skilled do-everything Collins and superrebounder Swanigan" because he has senority, then I don't agree at all.

    What do you mean?

...yeah, that ought to work -- let's change everything up over the course of 2-3 months -- good luck with that Meyers "Fucking" Leonard (nickname not to be confused with Harrison "Dang Diddily Do Damn Diddily Darn" Barnes) :sigh:

Absolutely, anything the guy does to improve is good for him and good for the team. I want all of our guys to improve over the off season.

I want them all to take a page out of Wesley Matthews summer workout regimen. That was a guy who was undrafted, became a starter his rookie year and even after UTA declined to match our toxic offer sheet and he got paid the big bucks, Wes did not rest on his laurels. Every fall he came back with some new skill he didn't have previously - one year it was the step back 3-pointer, the next it was a low post game. The summer after he left here he made a record recovery from a ruptured Achilles's. He wasn't just in the DAL starting line up on opening night - like he said he would be, he led his tea in minutes that season.

Dame has always had that drive to get better. C.J. has it. Swanigan seems to have it as well. A newly fit and motivated Nurk seems to have acquired it. Let's hope its infectious and spreads to the other guys on our roster. Its not like the rest of our guys don't have things that need improving...

From the video, his shot looks a lot quicker, and more instinctual, rather than his slow and over thought out shooting style of years past.

I'll give him 20 games before I'm back on the "trade him" bandwagon.

To me, that means he has his spot in the rotation until somebody else beats him out. With two rookies nipping at his heals, he needs to get better just to fend them off. He can't stand still or they will blow by him and lap him by the end of the preseason. He seems to realize that and is putting in the work. Time will tell if it pays off. If it does, great. If it doesn't, more playing time for the rookies. Seems like a win:win either way.

He should post his workouts online "License to Lillard"-style.

It's weird to say, but I really think he needs to see a sports psychologist - his biggest problem right now is that he's messed up in the head.

It's not really his shot that was the problem. More his brain.

If Meyers Leonard improves this year and shows he can actually play in this league I will be the first to start a "I cant believe its not butters" campaign

I still have a soft spot for the guy and want him to succeed, if for no other reason than I sometimes feel bad at the amount of hate he gets here.

But it seems like we hear something similar every off season. This will be his sixth year, so I'll believe it when I see it. He's gonna really have to improve dramatically if he wants to see much playing time this year.

This is so true. It is amazing to me how many on this board persist in finding faults and are happy to bitch about players. Myself, I will always cheer and encourage anyone wearing the red, black and white pinwheel. That does not mean I don't get aggravated at bone headed plays, lack of effort or bad character displayed by team members.

I don't think the team would or should decide playing time based on seniority any more than they should concede losses just to develop a draft pick. They can develop in practice and earn their minutes. The best player or the best matchup on a given night should play. Period. I have a hard time imagining that's going to be Collins over Meyers for at least the first 10 games of the season. If Collins beats him out that quickly, that will be great. In the meantime I hope fans remember Collins came off the bench his entire one year college career. He's young, weak by NBA standards, and inexperienced. Meyers was a huge let down last season. Even Meyers knows that. Whatever else Meyers is doing this summer, I hope it includes twice a week sessions with a sports psychologist, because really that's his biggest problem.

At the end of the day, I want all of our players to exceed expectations. Even Meyers.

I don't understand why players higher their own trainers. Aren't our coaches supposed to be coaching them? Or is their a rule against that in the summer?
