Do you know what the minimum salary for 2 years of experience is? $1,471,382 Relatedly, do you know what the minimum salary for 1 year of experience is? $1,312,611 I never lie, except when it would be amusing to me.
I still have some hope for Layman. He is pretty athletic. He was a good shooter in college...I don't know what the hell happened to him. You'd expect nba caliber talent, even 3rd stringers, to really kick butt in summer league.
Layman shooting 1000 3s per day they say. Goes 1/13....Meyers working so so hard every summer and cannot give us 10 solid minutes. Where do we find these guys with all these mental issues?
Meyers took him 'under his wing' after that first game. Did the same to Connaughton. Just like he took Collins and Swanigan 'out for dinner' after that first SL game and the next game they were both bad. Coincidence?
Layman had a play where he caught the ball, even took a dribble before lining up a 3. Then he air balled it! Fuck even I could do that!
Pat will be cut soon. He is playing so they can make sure that is the right decision. It is. Layman is playing because he is 6'9", a decent defender with a good basketball IQ and handles, who has a very pretty shot--that Blazers hope some day will actually go in again in games. If it did, he would be a better version of Ryan Anderson. But, something is not working right.
You may be right, but don't underestimate the contract situation. Small expiring contracts give us flexibility in making trades, so signing Pat makes sense from that perspective. He also knows the Blazer plays making him a really good practice player. But, yeah, I don't see him in a Blazer uniform next year unless something drastically changes. Layman has another year on his contract, then he's in the situation Pat is in now.
I really hope Layman can hit his shot. The rest of his game looks very good. I bet in practice he is 90% from three. If he can get it going in games he could be huge for this team.
