That's actually a giant toilet seat turned on end.

It's a tribute to liberal hipsters.

Put an MLB stadium on the river just north of the Pearl District just south of the I405.

I like the stadium idea. Not hot on the names. It has to sound like it would become a classic. All of my ideas are probably worse.

    Portland Swifts
    Portland Meadowlarks
    Portland Chinook
    Portland Evergreen (my new favorite)
    Portland Green Sox
    Beaver State Pounders

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Sounds like a fake franchise from one of those sports video games that couldn't license the real team names.

I'm a third-generation 9er fan, and there's no way I'd root for another NFL team. Never.

Baseball, I'm a Giants fan, but I suppose I could learn to root for a Portland team. Though I would prefer not to.

NHL, I only watch during the playoffs and Stanley Cup. Don't care about it, but I would root for a Portland team.

My father and I had season tickets to the Arena Football League when it was here. Fun games, but not a big crowd.

Are you native Portland? If so, how could you not root for your hometown?

Is there anymore information about what the OP heard about on the radio? Like who exactly is claiming they can bring an MLB and NFL team to Portland.

The other day on 620, Jay Allen said it was "oil businessmen" from Japan, who were having a meeting in Iceland.

    Yeah, totally sounded legit...

Ospreys would be kinda cool except one thing, A seahawk is an Osprey.

    Baseball: Portland Herons
Football: Portland Cascades (interseting story as to why the cascades are called the cascades)

If we go fish theme I like Sokeye over Chinook but no fish for football.

Football... Lumberjacks is so fitting in so many ways, but always sounds cheesy to me in terms of a sports franchise, but plaid shoulders on a football jersey might be pretty dope.

    Other options
    Mountaineers
    Summits

Sasquatches might be interesting, but probably too dorky.

Doesn't have a great ring but I always liked Growlers. Watching a game with a fat jug of microbrew would rock.
