YAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Damn he got me through some hard times.... Wow. Thanks for that. Seriously. I was so sad when he died.
I really dug two of Scarfaces albulms, but I cant remember the names right now. But I'm a Dre guy all the way. In all seriousness. I think he was the best. He did it all.
Also, if like me, you are pretty much WTF at most new rap, please take some time and listen to Czarface - it's 7L, Esoteric and Inspectah Deck the concept with the group is basically Sci Fi, old school WWF(e), silver age comics, sports, heroes n villains n shit like that, mostly boom bap + bars... that good shit. They put out a instrumentals vinyl recently for comic day and made a custom comic too. ie in this alone, Mohamed Ali Deadpool Spider-Man Wu Harvey Kietal Seinfeld Hank Pymm Vulcan Mind meld Christian Laettner FN-2187 Jedis Vibranium its like a childhood in a hip hop group "shit been ugly, but it does the trick like Steph Curry's kicks....." mhmmm also - L'Orange & Jeremiah Jae are a bit of a throw back , worth a listen
Some rappers I enjoy Eminem (after his 3rd cd or so he lost his edge. The shit he puts out now is awful. When he had pain and ambition he was amazing) Hopsin Tech N9ne Biggie 2Pac Kendrick Lamar Dre J.cole Mos Def Common Lupe Fiasco Kid Cudi The Game Warren G Childish Gambino Tyler, the Creator Too Short Fabolous Guilty pleasure is Drake. Watched him on Degrassi back in the day. Other guilty pleasure is 50 cent. I like Kanye too, dude is a weirdo sometimes, don't like his flow much, love his lyrics. "I stuck my dick inside this life until that bitch came" is hil-fucking-larious. I'll probably get flamed for some of the rappers I like but what the fuck evs. My favorite top 5 in no order are probably Too Short 2pac Biggie Eminem Tech N9ne
The best right now would be Kendrick Lamar. He can make the commercial songs and conscious rap songs, both are great. All his projects put out have been classics in my opinion. I think people sleep on J Cole as well. Asap Rocky also very underrated. Kendrick Lamar above all currently though. As far as old school, I think for me that would be Nas. Biggie was great, Pac was great. All the guys from Wu tang can rap their asses off. A tribe called quest. Eminem. Past=Nas Present=Kendrick Lamar
I heard some rap years ago from someone called Dviss1. It was pretty good. He even had a song about GW Bush.
