I forgot about him. Great voice! THen I was and am an even bigger fan of Ice Cube. Lethal Injection is an all time great.
Ice T was the shit! Doesn't get enough props for his flow and lyrics. Love this song. And an old school Mike Tyson appearance.
Lyrics Born was a favorite of mine at one point in time. The Latyrx album with Lateef is definitely one of my all-time favorite albums. The first track was so different from anything I had ever heard before, what with two rappers rapping different verses at the same time - brilliant.
I'll say that Kendrick Lamar is one of the few current rappers that's doing it right. I was hesitant to listen to him based on how shitty most rap is these days, but after I finally heard him I was down.
No love for the Beastie Boys yet. Sad. Paul's Boutique was mind blowing when it first came out and completely changed the record industry.
Damned good list. I was thinking about all of this when I wad typing as well. Ps. Nice Camu Tao shout out!
I love this album. To be honest though, I've never cared for their screechy voices. That album can never be made again. A real gem.
Skimmed through this thread now, and see that there's a bunch of good names mentioned. A few more that came to mind: Warren G Jean Grae Kirby Dominant I don't know that any of them would make my Top 5, but Kirby has one of my favorite verses ever. This whole song is great, but I tagged the video to start on the last few bars of his last verse. Listen to the whole song, but these last bars just always get me.
I mentioned De La Soul too. If you read my posts, you'd know that. Also, you should be reading my posts. Not being prepared to edit out my insults reflects poorly on you as an admin.
