The problem is he has a no trade clause. If he's only willing to waive the trade clause to go to HOU, they are actually better off keeping him for a year and letting him walk for nothing than taking back Ryan Anderson. A 29-year old, injury prone, 1-dimensional player making > $20 million a year for the next three years is worth less than nothing to a rebuilding team.

If Carmelo stays and becomes a distraction, they can always try to negotiate a buy out and then waive him. That would be less detrimental to their rebuilding effort than taking on Anderson's contract for the next three years. Sometimes nothing is better than something - especially if that something sucks.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Yeah, Cleveland was originally an option but he seems locked into Houston now (a Woj article said that he expects New York to follow through on the Rockets deal). But even if we include Cleveland, they also have no assets for a rebuilding team, so they're basically in the same situation as the Rockets.

I think the problem was more Phil Jackson than the clause....hopefully the new GM will not insult him before negotiating options like Phil did

You missed the most important one:

    8. Portland landing Anthony would piss Houston fans off to such a degree that they might quit following basketball permanently

You're right. I forgot that the Nuggets advanced that far that year. According to Wikipedia, that was the first time that they won a playoff series since 1994, and was the team's first (and only) conference final since 1985.

Yeah but I don't think a straight trade with Houston is even an option. They'd never take Anderson back. I think the options are expand the list, or stay in New York.

Well, if SwissBlazer is 17 or so, perhaps you are his father.

Ok, good that we got that straightened out. Of course, that means I might be your father.

Wait, they want to draw attention to the Tim Hardaway Jr. deal? But it was so embarrassing!

Neils body language says that he's going after Melo hard.

Right when dwight asked about melo, Neil's face stayed the same but he nervously went to his tippy toes a few times.

Then he started looking away, and laughing a little bit, while making hand gestures.

4 things that I didn't notice during the rest of the interview.

I mean, his contract is no worse than Turner or Crabbe's... and at least he played well for ATL

    Hello darkness, my old friend
This post now featured on Clutchfans. They haven't disputed it, just called it a "gem."

Guys, you can always become Trail Blazers fans if you feel that strongly about such a transcendent superstar as Melo.
