I think that's the rub. I think that deal would have been done weeks ago, but Cleveland is a mess right now. Their front office is in complete disarray.

The rumors are that LeBron isn't thrilled with Love and would rather have his buddy Melo.

Perhaps there is something else us, or NYK can do to sweeten the deal a little. I don't think they are really interested much in future draft packs at the moment. Maybe a player that they can actually use, or maybe help the offload a little salary. LeBron supposedly like Shabazz. Maybe also give them O'Quinn to give them more depth up front.

It would have to go down as three separate trades, but CLE has a $4.8 million trade exception from Mike Dunleavy they could use to get O'Quinn from the Knicks and a $2.2 million Mo Williams trade exception they could use to get Napier.

If NYK are willing to take back one more expiring contract, this accomplishes the same thing:

Draft picks and cash considerations could also come into play...

    That's when you say.

That big 1 you say Portland has, was good enough to dash your championship hopes in the 2014 playoffs.

Lebron is making it abundantly clear that he wants his options open next summer. No way he recruits Melo to CLE now given all their drama and front office turmoil. I think Melo is going to realize there are few options for him outside of NY (where they don't really want him either).

Fun question: Would a Dame, CJ, Nurkic, Carmelo, and Wade core be enough to convince Lebron to come to POR?

He'd be able to win another ring, and play with his buddy Carmelo.

Melo also has an ETO. So, why wouldn't LeBron recruit him to CLE - if he really believes Melo gives him a better shot than Love at one more title in CLE? If it doesn't work, they can both flee the sinking ship next summer.

Yeah if they give up love then it's just a sideways move for them still not better or worse than they were before

This is correct, also... let's not forget the banana boat players are ALL free agents next summer...

Even if Melo and Wade agreed to come here, would the Cavs want anything we have in a s&t? Because we obviously couldn't afford to bring him in as a free agent.

Also, this would never happen because we are Portland... and we don't get to be happy lol

We know that, but there is supposedly a growing rift between LeBron and KLove. Whether it makes them better, or not, I think LeBron would rather play with Melo than Love.

Shit, CLE should just make LeBron their GM. The position is open and he's the one calling the shots anyway. Might was well make it official. We've had player-coaches, LeBron can be the first player-GM.

Okay so how exaclty would we get Melo and Wade and still have dame, CJ and Nurk and why would we want to shorten our window so drastically?

Vonleh, Collins, Crabbe, Leonard, three future 1sts,

I'm talking about next off-season, with this never-gonna-happen hypothetical. Basically, would adding Melo and Wade (Lebron's buddies) be enough to convince him to sign here?

I'm not advocating anything or speculating on the moves to do so.

Just asking the question, would Lebron consider POR as a destination if we added Wade and Melo.

Probably not, I don't think LeBron wants to play in the west no matter what. Makes sense too as he can walk to the finals in the east.

Wouldn't we be better than Golden State with Lebron, Dame, CJ, Nurkic, Carmelo, and Wade?
