Cavs are so much worse if they trade Kyrie.

I wonder how Lebron feels about this. On the surface you'd assume this means lebron is gone, but what if he doesn't like playing with Kyrie for whatever reason?

If they trade Kyrie to NY for Melo, and then Melo/LeBron both leave next summer, I'm going to laugh so hard.

I agree, but you have to assume if they trade Irving, for Melo. That Love will be traded.
LBJ+Melo+Love all generally are best when played at the 4.

I know people who have lawyered up and got out of contracts. It happens all the time.

What? Lebron is best when he plays the 3. But with that lineup, Bron can play the 2.

Even if the trade was something like this?

    NYK - Irving
Cavs - Melo + 2 or 3 first round picks from NYK.
Those picks prolly will be lotto picks too.

Regardless, if you have Bron/Melo/Love on the floor at the same time, you have two guys playing out of position. LeBron CAN play the two, but that doesn't mean it's his best position. Melo CAN play small forward, but that doesn't mean it's his best position.

He's the best player in the world and if asked he can play 1-5. I just think LBJ presents more problems for teams when he plays the 4 than the 3.

I still think they could do better. He's 25 years old, an All-Star, and he's on a pretty affordable contract for a player of his caliber.

Yeah. Exactly. They had to pay one way or another.

People have to choose how far to take the battle. Sometimes it's cheaper to let someone out of a contract than to battle in court.

But still they wouldn't have a legit PG which is probably the most important position in today's league.

If NYK can get Kyrie, would Melo still want out?

I don't think they'd have an issue trading Love for a PG is what I meant

True, who though? Kyrie is pretty high up on the list of top pgs in the league imo.

If CLE really is in discussions with the Knicks for 'Melo, Gilbert has to know this is a one year thing and then LeBron will be gone again. If Olshey is going to offer a 'rental package' for 'Melo, why not for LeBron? They will both be gone by next summer but it accomplishes the same thing, just to a greater degree. The thing is, Gilbert would have to realize this is what is going to happen and be willing to participate instead of having James leave again for nothing.

As for the pitch, it would be as good a way as any for LeBron to avenge losses to the Warriors by combining him with Dame, CJ and Nurkic. That is a younger core than he has in CLE and more balanced as well. After a year he most likely goes to LA but for that one year, it is the most interesting story in the NBA.

LeBron likes to win titles for the land. Portland is a land.

Because at least 10 other teams would make better offers than Portland could (assuming they don't trade CJ). And, James has been very clear his entire career that he is either playing at home or for a big market.

If he wanted to try and win a title and show his dominance, then I think Portland would be great. But, I don't think that is really all the motivates him.

Yeah Irving although not a top 5 pg in the league. Isn't a scrub.

Not sure if Detroit has anything to offer the Cavs.

Some can't be traded right away.. And some might not be good fits with LBJ.
Jackson, Hill, Dragic, Payton, Lowry. Are all on these I think would happily trade for Love.
To me though, mostlikely would be going into the season with Williams. Maybe picking up Nelson for min.
