Again, I'm not talking about free agent signings. In all likelihood, due to cap constraints Portland is not going to be in a position to make a free agent signing for the next three or four years. What I'm talking about is: 1. Having attractive enough assets to be able to provide enticing compensation to the sending team when the next disgruntled star wants to be traded, and 2. Being a reasonable contender so that the incoming player will at least give the Blazers a shot before looking to leave for other pastures.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Okay, but I think "being attractive to free agents" and "being attractive to traded veterans who could leave" have the same root causes. So what I said about drawing free agents I'd say is still true for being a team that can retain traded-for stars.

all I can say is this has been one helluva fun and interesting offseason! AND there appear a lot for fireworks left with Kyrie and Melo likely to be moved

If you go back and read what I said here, we're both saying the same thing. In order to be more attractive, the Blazers stars have to gain more acclaim by becoming All-Stars, the role players have to improve, and the team has to achieve more success, especially in the playoffs. Even doing all of that, the Blazers may have to take a risk on the player they get via trade being a one-year rental. Olshey has shown that he's willing to do that by tossing the Blazers' hat into the discussions regarding guys like George and Carmelo.

Now, if you want to keep disagreeing with our general agreement, please do so. ;)

Wes Mathews loved boxing offseason to get in shape...great for footwork and cardio...boxing seems to be finally getting popular again...when I was a kid it was boxing and baseball...everyone knew the contenders by name...now I couldn't name many

At this point I would be happy if we could somehow pry Love away from Cleveland.

If Melo goes to OKC I am ok with that due to they might have to give at 3 decent players to trade back to NY. Then next have George and Melo walk on them for FA.

I've probably beaten this to a pulp by now but imo that should have been the goal from the jump. Let teams like the Nugz, Celtics, and Suns duke it out for Kyrie and slide in to facilitate a Melo to Cleveland deal that lands us Love.
