I don't think he's the guy...a lot will depend upon where Kyrie Irving goes...there will be guards available who could contribute more than Crabbe has contributed....AC plays the way he talks....very quietly...we need wing defenders and ball handlers that can make a 3....maybe Ariza is the target

Obviously. I'm just trying to figure out ways of NOT getting Anderson! :)

Totally agree. He was the 3rd best 3point shooter in the league. I'll miss him

Dude are you arguing that Gordon is not injury prone (because that is all I said)? By cherry picking one of the two seasons in his career that he played over 70 games? I didn't even mention Crabbe, but you feel the need to rant about him every chance you get.

    Games Gordon has played: 78, 62, 56, 9 ( out of 65), 42, 64, 61, 45, 75

Completely agree, but wonder if part of this was to free up from for more than Nurk. Crabbe is a valuable player, but not necessarily a needle mover in the playoffs. To this point I assumed that Vonleh would be let go because they wouldn't want to pay him. Maybe they are clearing up space (after Nurk) to be able to sign Vonleh--assuming they think Vonleh could be better down the road than Crabbe was.

I am willing to bet matching last year was pa unwilling to let go of an asset for nothing after the lma debacle, I would guess that a year work Crabbe persuaded him or was not worth it

I don't think it does. The way I see it was Neil matched the offer last year in an attempt to create an extra asset in case we were able to be in a situation where a star was shopped (i.e Paul George) and we needed a large salary to help match without giving up CJ or Dame. Well It didn't work , so he dumped the contract........ just like I said he could if needed. (without giving up a 1st round draft pick) Was it wise? who knows but at least he tried.

This move also opens up more minutes for Shabazz Napier which I think is a good move....Swanigan will get some SF burn as well....also says Turner is our starter more than likely which I'm fine with

IF this is a precursor to helping HOU get Melo, then it should be done in this manner:

PDX uses TPE and takes on Gordon
HOU trades two of Black/Ariza/Tucker + picks to NYK
    NYK sends Melo to HOU

    I used Meyers/Vonleh as a stand-in for the TPE:

I think everyone thought Crabbe and Leonard would make a leap last season and they just didn't....Crabbe shot a high percentage but wasn't a game changer for the most part and Leonard regressed.....this is just what went down..it's no longer such a revelation. Exit interviews were not kind to either of these guys.

And potentially for Layman down the road. From the summer league interviews I think they believe Layman will find his shot in games and can be a much better defender than Crabbe was.

Unfortunately, we can't combine that TPE with our existing contracts in a trade, and our pick of the litter at $13 mil and under isn't anywhere close to netting us a disgruntled star level player.

Calm down. Crabbe is the subject of this thread. Talking about him in this thread is both fair and expected. If we do get Gordon, it will be to replace Crabbe's minutes and his role.

And yes, Gordon is better. It's not just my Crabbe "hatred" that says so. Gordon won Sixth Man of the Year. Crabbe didn't get a single vote.

Gordon was healthy last season and is healthy now. Why would't I mention his most recent performance. It is the most relevant. It's not like I went back three or four years to find a season when he played well.

in a vacuum, i think this sucks. we basically gave away a rotation player in order to cut a guy owed 20 MM.

If we use the TPE for something, cool. if not, this is worse than just giving him away for nothing. we should have at least got a 2nd or something.

Did I sound like I was suggesting that we could use the TPE? I am just saying that Crabbe and 3 draft picks could have been an attractive package for Paul George. (or someone else like that) It was worth a shot.

Not happening. I don't believe Tarik Black can be traded until 12/15. They just signed him as a free agent. NYK doesn't want 32- year old Trevor Ariza. They want 24-year old Mo Harkless.

This move seems to me to be leading up to another move....we got cap relief and a roster spot and hopefully replace Crabbe with a 2 way player
