If Golden State makes the playoffs as an 8th seed, are the Dallas Mavericks in trouble come playoff time? It seems like GS always has there way with Dallas, winning the last 4 match ups between them. Do you think the Warriors will upset the Mavs in the 1st round of the playoffs? Will it go 6-7 games? Are the Warriors nothing more than a fluke?
In the playoffs the Mavericks would handle them, the playoffs are different. The Warriors live and die on the offensive end, some nights they happen to outscore you, Nelson knows how to play the Mavericks because he coached there...but in the playoffs it's a whole other animal and the Mavericks are the superior team. Maybe if the Warriors played something resembling defense I would give them more credit. The Warriors have very little playoff experience and I think it should show in a 7 game series. There's no way in hell the Mavericks would let the Warriors beat them, they are too good and too motivated to let Monta Ellis and Jason Richardson ruin their season.
The playoffs are different but I hope they do make it because they are the only 8 seed that could take them above 4 games... Don Nelson knows that team and they just seem to match up well against them. They would be their toughest 1st round match-up and could even win a couple which would be nice.
No I think the Mavericks are still in good shape. Regular season matchup wins don't really indicate anything come playoff time. I mean there are times we have upsetted teams in the past and it means nothing in the playoffs. I bet the Warriors don't get swept in the series but in 7 games, I expect Dallas to emerge the victor. And that's all that matters.
The warriors have the mavs number. Hopefully this matchup doesn't happen. If so the mavs could be in trouble. I'm not making any predictions though.
Golden State might win a game or two, but that's about it. I don't see them giving Dallas too much trouble in the playoffs despite their recent success against the Mavericks.
IF goldenstate has all their players. IT is possible. The only difference is that dallas is more nsync as a team.Edit: all their players HEALTHY.
Hell no. Are you kidding me? These guys can't even win on the road. How the F*ck are they going to win against the defending West Conference champions? They play 0 defense at all, and the Mavs should be able to hinder parts of their offense. They are kind of a dangerous offensive team, but the Mavs can easily take them. The Mavs have an amazing coach, and a very good balance of great O and D.
Maybe if they had the roster they started the season with. But now with Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington and the loss of Ike Diogu there's no way Golden State could win. Stephen Jackson is just an average defender and would probably shoot like 10 for 45 from the field for the series with 15 turnovers. Al Harrington would play pretty well but he wouldn't be able to guard Dirk and how come it always seems that when Al Harrington plays well his team always looses? The loss of Ike Diogu would really be felt in this series as the only player to control the boards would be foul-prone Anre Bierdnes (sp). And lets be honest Baron Davis and Jason Richardson aren't going to beat the Mavs themselves.
As The Round Mound Of Rebound always says...in a 7 game series, the best team will always win...I agree, the Mavs will have no problem with the Warriors.
As others have said, until they can show what they can do in the playoffs, there is no reason to believe they would upset the Mavs. Avery Johnson has shown he can make proper adjustments when needed. They have a much better team than the Warriors, and I just can't see it happenning.

You have a grudge against Stephen Jackson who has been the Warriors best player since the trade. He is a tenacious defender, an amazing passer, and if he isn't shooting, he'll get his teammates involved. As for Diogu helping out, Powell>>>>Diogu. Ike's a nice guy and I liked him as a Warrior, but he never showed huge heart, wheras Powell plays his ass off every night and even played through a concusion in garbage time to play. Powell is a good defender, at least as strong as Diogu, quicker, and a better leaper. His offense might not match Diogu's but I'd rather have Powell on my team. And if you think we would rather have Dun and Murphy on our team, think again. Dun would never show any desire on the court. He can't shoot to save his life, unless he gets lucky, he's soft, can't defend, can't rebound, can't even post up guards. Murphy is the most overrated piece of sh*t in the league. All he can do is shoot the long ball, is allergic to the low post, can't defend, and all his rebounds come when he's next to a sh*tty rebounder or when no one is anywhere near him. Al and Jax are everything we have wanted. Both of them come out to play every night. Al can rebound, he isn't afraid to go get bruised down low, he can shoot the three, and he can handle the ball. Jackson is everything Mike Dunleavy isn't and is the Warriors perfect point forward.

PacersFan is our village idiot, don't listen to him. Since the trade Stephen Jackson's been great, his assists are gone through the roof, a lot of 7 assist games.
If they met in the playoffs, I would give it a 5 game series at best. Although they are playing great against the Mavs as of right now, Playoff time is different. And you have to think that over a pivotal 7 game series, the Mavs would come out on top no matter how well GS plays agaisnt them.
The Mavs have won 1 game against the Warriors in the last 2 seasons. They cant avoid the 8th seed. They can only hope that it is not the Warriors. The Warriors Cinderella story could be a bitter end to the Mavs season of destiny.

Warriors basketball will not be a success in the playoffs. It's a system that can win games individually over the season but when it comes to the playoffs and you play the same team over and over. Teams adjust and I don't see Warriors adjusting, and if they do, they go away from their strengths and therefore Mavs come out on top.
