And he was slowed by injuries early in his career and held back by Mark Jackson trying to force him to be a traditional PG. Steph's scoring didn't really explode until he was relieved of the duty of being the primary creator/distributor for everyone else.

Think about it, under Jackson he was both the #1 scoring option and the #1 ball handler/distributor. By asking him to do less of the latter he was able to do more of the former.

Crabbe is going into the exact opposite situation. He will be asked to do more than just knock down wide open 3-pointers for the first time in his career.

Close, but like Wallace, Butler was never a 1-trick pony. He was a good all around player who became an all star after he started scoring more. He was already 2nd team all defense at the age of 24 the year before he became an all star.

Examples of good all around players who became all stars by increasing their scoring do not apply to Crabbe. He's not a good all around player. He's the exact opposite.

Sorry, hard to tell. There are posters in this thread that think Crabbe is going to average 20/6/4 and be an all star in the East this season - and they're serious.

    Who thinks that?

I think Crabbe will have no trouble putting up 15-18 ppg/4 rebs on solid percentages given the lack of talent on his team.

I do. Even if he starts, he will be easy to gameplan for.

According to the article they plan to start him at SF. So, I guess that means they plan to start DeMarre Carroll at PF.

That is going to be one undersized, weak rebounding starting unit. I guess they bought into the whole small ball thing. Unfortunately, for it to work you need to be able to rebound the ball. Carroll, who is at best and average rebounder for a SF will now ask to play up one position as a PF and Crabbe who is a very weak rebounding SG will now be starting at SF.

All things Allen Crabbe are marginalized by his passive, 1-dimensional play.

    This team is GARBAGE.

If Crabbe is their best player, and teams gameplan for him, how do you expect him to score when his team does not create space and wide open shots? :dunno:

They really need to balance out that roster. They have way to many redundant players in the 6'5" - 6'8" range with only on true center (Mosgov) and only one true PG (Lin) on their current roster. It forces them to play guys out of position and they are extremely susceptible to injury and foul trouble at the 1 and 5 spots.

He was playing a role on the Blazers. Now he is going to be a starter and doesn't have to worry about stepping on anyone's toes and can do his own thing.
