    Haha.
I heard that he gave his mustache a nickname. He named it "Draft".

Glad you're okay. The one thing I agree with you on is punching bicyclists in the face. Lord knows I've wanted to do it myself numerous times.

But in all seriousness, if it were me, I would have called the non-emergency line and told the police what happened. At least you'd be able to say that you made an effort to call the police.

One attacked him with a bike lock. The other stood there giving an interview, exercising his First Amendment Rights.

I have a question for you though. If you almost died on a bike, but ended up just going over your handlebars (A very scary experience that would pump you full of adreneline and insight your "flight or fight" response) and some guy who was involved in the incident came over to you with a "shit eating grin", would you calmly talk to the guy? After wrecking your bike and evading death, the last thing you want to see is someone seemingly laughing at your injury.

Oh I'd be a certain level of pissed, certainly. Mick has always struck me as a rather immature guy who likes to push people's buttons. I've had to learn not to get mad at him and not to play his games, but he certainly does it very well. I completely believe that he had a "shit eating grin" on his face, and it doesn't surprise me in the least.

At the same time....if what Mick said is true: the guy ran a stop sign. My personal experiences have been that bike riders aren't the smartest people out there, and can be pretty arrogant when they want to be. And then the guy swung a bike lock at him.

Now, assuming Mick tried to help him up (for the record, I only read the first page of this thread), whether he had a stupid grin on his face or not, just being a smart ass to someone is not a license to just take a bike lock and start attacking them. It's not very mature, but it's not a crime.

In the context of that, I'd probably punch the guy too. And I'm the kind of guy that doesn't stop at one punch.

So the moral of the story: don't run stop signs and then attack someone who stops to make sure you're okay with a bike lock. Grinning isn't a crime. It's not very mature, but it's not a crime.

I'd calmly talk to him until Gonzaga basketball was brought up, at that point I'd try to jump in front of the nearest vehicle.

We agree here. I was just playing devil's advocate. Whether the guy ran a stop sign or not, he could have died. I can't imagine anyone here reacting kindly if they went through that and saw a guy with a "shit eating grin" (Zags words, not mine). Not that Zags was asking for it, but you can't be surprised when the cyclist has a negative reaction. The same could be said for being a Nazi.

I was fucking with you. I am on the don't punch Nazis (for speaking) side. Still thinking about Sly's Nambla analogy. Might change even though I doubt it.

Not asking you to change, just pointing out that a Nazi preaching BS could be as vile to some as a kid fucker.

My grandfather fought in WWII. I could see him not taking too kindly to seeing Nazis in America.

That's one reason I don't show up at counter protests. I am not certain that I wouldn't punch a Nazi in the face. I honestly don't think I could hear someone shout, "Gas those kikes now" and not punch them in the face.

I get that. My grandfather fought in Korea. If he saw what North Korea was like today, and the dictatorship that followed in South Korea for a time, he'd cry.

Wouldn't change because of being asked. Thinking about the scenario.

I'm having a hard time with deciding if someone who admits to molesting kids should be punched by the closest person or just turned in to the cops.

Morally it seems ok to murder them but ideally we'd let the law handle it. Very tough.

Which is why the law is very clear on this. Vigilanty Justice is illegal.
