Chicago Tribune - Scott Skiles said before Wednesday's game that rookie forward Tyrus Thomas could begin to start down the stretch. That move would come at the expense of veteran P.J. Brown, Thomas' closest friend on the Bulls. The two recently spent an off day together in Orlando along with family members. "I've created a monster," Brown said facetiously. "This young guy is about ready to take over. But that's good. We're going to need him if we're going to make a run."

How bad of a guy can Tyrus Thomas be when he's hanging out with PJ Brown? Tyrus Thomas definitely has the ability to be a star, it will be interesting to see what he can do with more PT.

That is great that PJ is taking him under his wing. I have always like PJ Brown and this definitely helps my case. But about Tyrus, I definitely didnt expect him to start any this year, so this would be a big surprise to me. He has been playing pretty well as of late, and I think it would definitely help him out to be in the starting lineup. With him, confidence is a big factor. When he gets confident, he is beastly. I remember him playing against Texas last year in the tournament. He played amazing...

I just have such high respect for PJ Brown. He shows leadership on and off the court and there is no reason why some team shouldnt want him for just that reason alone. (I mean, unless he costs alot lol but his contract exapires this year)

Yeah I can see tyurs being the X factor in the playoffs. Only problem I have is that he turns the ball over a little to much

You gotta respect PJ Brown, he's such a classy guy and one of the few players I have a ton of respect for. As for Tyrus Thomas starting, I say go for it. In the few games he has started this year I thought he played pretty well. The Bulls have been increasing his minutes the last 7-8 games and he has been producing at a high level. Let the young kid start, if it doesn't work out then slide him back onto the bench. It shouldn't be a big issue, take the chance.

He can't be any worse than PJ Brown who also starts the game off with an early foul and a turnover. He too isn't mr. reliable. Tyrus can surpass that with his athletic skills and he is better suited for this starting lineup because he can roam around the paint and get alley oops and what not while Big Ben continues to do the dirty work. Is it just me or does it look like Thomas has grown an inch since LSU? He compared to Deng who is listed at 6'9, Tyrus looked atleast an inch taller then his teamate. If he can get to 6'9-6'10 we have ourselves a monster. Alls he needs to do is add about 20 pounds of muscle from now into next season and he can work on his post up game. His potential is still higher than anyone in this draft but he is probably the most raw other than perhaps Patrick Obryant who is in the D League now.Him and Luol Deng are a pretty nice combination because Lu is a slasher and Ty is a dunker/highflyer. Both are good athletes and Tyrus looks like he may be the best rookie this year at drawing fouls and picking them up lol. He had 11 free throw attempts the other day so you know he gives the effort. He is only shooting like 57% from the line this season which is unnacceptable. He needs to get that up to ATLEAST 74-78% next year. He has a nice shot but idk why it doesn't go in. If we can pick up a good big man in this years draft like say Al Horford from Florida, you have a nice guy off the bench or as a starter for next year if Tyrus moves to either SF/SG/or PF whichever he fits best.

Well what I respect most about tyrus is his athletic ability, he's simply amazing when it comes to getting up in the air, running up and down the floor, going for blocks, all ops, etc he's great at that .. probley one of the best in the league, I really see a lot of good in him though I still doubt his personality a little bit from those comment he said a bit back, but meh he' will grow up.
