<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>It was Marion?s defense on Nowitzki that gave Phoenix a chance to rally (?Defensive Player of the Year, hands down,? Marion said) and then take command in the first overtime ?</div> He sounds like an egotistical bastard. Here's another quote he said last month:<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>?By the time I hang my shoes up, I?m going to be the best small forward ever to play this game ? all-around, anyway.?</div>Hahahaha, im not even going to respond to that. Does Shawn also think he is Jesus Christ?
He's always begging for attention. I don't know if it's all his ego, but he gets upset when he's never mentioned and is overshadowed by others on the team so he just goes to the media so he can get some attention. It's kind of annoying, but not a big deal as long as it doesn't hurt the team. He's been doing this stuff since a few years ago so it's nothing new.
I might put him as my all-around best small forward of all time. He'd be in my top 5. He deserves some attention - I have no problem with him saying these things.
Shawn has every right to say that. He doesn't have an ego it's just that in all of the expert collums he's being praised, but when it comes down to the awards he's ignored. I may be the only one who thinks this, but I'm happy that he speaks out sometimes.
Marion is very under appreciated. As far as his comments go, he's probably just fu**ing around anyway. :yahoo:
I agree, I've got no issue with his statements either... He's probably sick of being under-rated and under-appreciated, despite his All-Star appearances....Not only that, but it's no different than Kobe being CONFIDENT in his abilities as a player in this league... Which some people may mistake as arrogance...
Nah, he's pretty serious I'm sure. I can see where he's coming from. He's kinda doing a Gilbert Arenas, throwing crazy statements out there so people will give him attention and think he's better than he is. I personally get really annoyed by all his, what you could call, selfishness, but as I said I can see where he's coming from. Nash is traded, Marion comes in, Nash comes back, and Nash gets like 500x more attention. Plus Amare's been here half the time Marion has and he's getting tons more attention too. Shawn's annoyed that he's been here like 8 years and still is mostly ignored.
Marion is definately one of the best sfs ever and definately deserves a whole lot more of the lime-light then he gets
he is a great SF dont get me wrong but how can you say how your future is going to be pretty much he can get injured for the rest of his career and then would he be the greatest SF of all time? I dont think so. Just saying things like this can get people against you
he says that assuming he doesn't get hurt, no athlete thinks they are going to get hurt, but if it does happen I'll still think Shawn Marion is one of the best SFs to play the game
