With all the injuries and the losing I've repeatedly seen people say, "Oh, we won't lose this game because Kobe won't let it happen." or "We're not losing because Phil will pull a phschological trick to motivate the team into winning." I know that Phil is arguably the best coach of all time and the Kobe's arguably a top 5 or 10 talent of all time, but that doesn't mean they can say, "Tonight's game is important so we're winning." and then magically win the game. They're human, and people expecting them to be able to will their teams to victory every night are stupid. Kobe's great but he has his share of cold nights and Jackson's great but a coach can only do so much. I guess what I'm trying to say is that people need to realize that they can't expect immortal performances by Kobe and Phil every night.
I somewhat agree. I agree that you can't assume that Kobe and/or Phil will just will us a victory on any night. But I do think as a leader of a team in Kobe and Head coach of a team in Phil they have to find a way. It's their job to do so and they should be doing all they can. A lot of people are putting a lot of the blame on Phil with this losing streak even with the injuries...and it's understandable, but I don't put all the blame on him. I just feel it's his job as the head coach to motivate this team or do some sort of phschological trick as you said. If they lose tonight or any night I don't put all the blame on Phil or Kobe because like you said they are human and Kobe does have some cold nights but I still think it's their responsibility to go out and do whatever they can do and I have faith that they do.
I agree ChuckTheD...I'll admit that I sometimes am not realistic and I dream that Kobe will lead us to a crazy record and win 5-6 more rings but...I sleep alot better knowing he is on our team and that we are NEVER out of a game.
Yeah, but that's just the thing that fucks this team over. Smush and Lamar and all the stupid fans are saying, whatever, we can play like sh*t and Kobe can pull it out for us. He can do it sometimes, and when he does it's spectacular, but nobody can single handedly carry a team to victory every night. The supporting cast needs to get their heads in the game and give Kobe some help.Let's put the supporting cast's contributions in last night's game in perspective- Kobe had to score 65 points on 60% shooting for the Lakers to barely beat the Blazers at home. Yeah very true. I see what your saying. This can actually be a bad thing. Hopefully the team doesn't get that mindset that Kobe will make up for their mistakes. Especially Smush.
