I liked both players. Boog was a hell of player and Howard could hit the long ball a lot.

Boog ended up with Cleveland later in his career. They said he looked like a massive blood clot (the uniforms were red).

I was a big fan of Boog. Once, when my wife and I were in Oriole Park I convinced her to use her charms to get him to autograph the program at his barbeque concession. Surely, a beautiful blond has a better chance to gain his attention than a dude in a 1983 Champs baseball jersey. ad8c2f67ed74b85b0f83e7686790add2.jpg Nowadays, Manny is the Guy!

Denny, We met him and he is real comforted with his status and great BBQ. He was charming and class! He is one large human!

Until free agency came along and became the norm, a lot of these guys were working regular jobs in the offseason, and were regular people.

Ernie Banks retired as one of the all time greats and had to work as a banker (of course!) for the rest of his life to make ends meet.

No prima donnas in those days.

I'm not surprised Boog was so easy to be around.
