I was waiting for the game to end to create a topic. Lakers as a team played like sh*t for most of the game but were still able to keep it close...as it was the Blazers. 4th quarter...Kobe just exploded...he had 24 points 9/11 FG 4/4 from the three-point line...in just the 4th quarter alone. Just incredible. If there was a definition for clutch it would be one word, Kobe. He made some spectacular threes with the opponent in his grill. He made a huge one in overtime...I mean man..Kobe=God. You could just see the determination in Kobe's face...I have not seen that type of expression from him, ever. The rest of the team gradually picked it up and didn't let up down the stretch. Oh Yeah, and Kobe...65 points 8/12 from the three point line with only 2 turnovers and played 50 minutes tonight. :worthy: BTW: The Blazer players are still a bunch of punks. Zach Randolph especially, and did anyone see Jack shove Lamar..wow? Both teams were jawing at eachother extensively but no techicals were called...even though there was a scuffle..whatever...just glad we got out with a win.
Lamar's play is getting lost in this.. 15 points 9 rebounds and 6 assists to go along with 0 turnovers.
But down the stretch the Blazers were scoring at will. Randolph was abusing Kwame. They were getting easy buckets literally every time. It was a miracle that Randolph missed that last shot. I'm ecstatic at having seen such a performance and just getting a win but this team needs to make some serious defensive changes.
I didn't see this game but Kobe just went off for 65 is just ridiculous. I gotta see this game, hopefully NBA TV can show it later on tomorrow or sometime next week. Great game by Bryant, maybe this will jump start the Lakers.
sh*t man! I came on here as soon as I saw that Kobe had 65. What an amazing performance by him....I am so impressed. Kobe = best player since MJ
It's just so sad that we nearly lost even with kobe going off. This team shows no heart, no passion and no fire. And this was against the pathetic jail blazers.Anyhow, this game IMO was kobe's best clutch preformance ever (regular season).
Insane! I just saw the highlits on ESPN.com. The fall away 3 from the corner was insane. He hit what 2 3's down the stretch? 65 is something big. I think he really took the 7 game winning streak and just knew he had to takeover.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Kobe Drops 65 As Lakers Win 17th March, 2007 - 6:06 am Yahoo! - Kobe Bryant had enough after seven straight losses by the Los Angeles Lakers . He took matters into his own hands against the Portland Trail Blazers and left the court with the fourth highest-scoring game in franchise history. Bryant scored 24 of his 65 points in the fourth quarter and added nine more in overtime, powering the Lakers to a 116-111 victory on Friday night. Last season's scoring champ shot 23-for-39 from the field, 8-for-12 from 3-point range and 11-for-12 from the free-throw line. "My daughter is outside waiting for me, and I'm sure she doesn't give a damn about what just happened. She just wants to watch Care Bears," Bryant said with a grin. "I'm just happy we won. We needed to get this one. We just had to win this game and get back on track, just for a morale standpoint. We're at a point now where everybody's a little beat up." It was the second-highest scoring game of Bryant's career and his third with 60 or more points -- including an 81-point outing against Toronto on Jan. 22, 2006, at Staples Center. He also had 62 against Dallas on Dec. 20, 2005, at Los Angeles. The All-Star MVP has 15 games with 50 or more points, including four this season. The Lakers are 11-4 when he cracks the 50-point plateau. "I had to come out aggressive and assert myself, just because our confidence was a little shaky," Bryant said. "We needed a breakout game. And it's my job as a leader to kind of read what we need as a team. And sometimes, me taking over games like this instills confidence in us all." [READ]</div> - Real GM
I watched the 4th quarter and OT...what can I say... it was kobe's night... I realy wanted blazers to tie it up in OT so kobe could score more in double ot, but oh well... 65 points is enough... man... he just hit those threes like it was nothing.. see when he was at the pocket he pivoted left and shoved roy out(he didnt realy shove him out he basically just faked roy) and then pivoted back right andn just hit the turn around 3....that was amazingkobe is amazinganyone see race to mvp last week?the guy put 1.dirk2.nash3-348 or watever... everybody else in nba the mvp is between nash and dirk..but now the top 10 is back along with the 11-20...and I cant believe kobe is 5th... I really think kobe should be mvp this year.. he got robbed last year and dirk and nash just has a good supporting cast... while kobe has nothing to work with....

yeah well said junotand Stu Lantz said it all during Lakers live Kobe wasnt going to back down and realized they lost 7 straight so Kobe took it in his own hands and was a much needed win hopefully we continue Sunday vs the Twolves and play some better Defense.

A guy who gets good assists will win over a scorer, big man presence, etc. And you have to be on a good team. I think that's big bunk.
im not sure about that.... because if your on a good team, probably means your team has good talent...sure, team success does come into play in mvp situations, but lets not forget what "v" stands for, its who is more valuable to their team. last night was just a display of what kobe brings to the table almost on a nightly basis in order for their team to be successful(and right now im pretty sure lakers are a playoff contender so that is pretty successful)...see if u look at nash and the suns, all they really need is a playmaker like andre miller. sure, their team wouldn't be as good as it is now, but it would still be a very good team...but lakers on the other hand, if u take away kobe and put in a normal scorer like say... josh howard, the team will not be as good as it is now... I hope u understand what im trying to say...edit..wait a minute, just in case I dont look like an idiot, are u disagreeing with me or agreeing with me
What I ginf impressive is then umber of 60 point games he has had. Wilt is up there with something like 32 60 point games, but Kobe is tied with Baylor with 3 60 point games and one behind MJ, who has 4. Nobody else in the history of basketball has had more than one over 60 point game. Kobe is a very impressive player, now if he would just pass the ball a couple more times lol.

But Yeah, Kobe played a hell of a year and was my runner up in MVP list, next to LeBron James.
