Their argument is they pay taxes in Oregon. If you're gonna whine that much about it find a job in Washington.
Why would I want to live in a State where they have a City Police force that refuses to file a Police Report for you after your house has been robbed? That's what happened to my dad when I was 12. Moved out of Oregon immediately after that happened. My dad tells me that he still flips off any Portland Police that he sees anytime he is in Oregon because of it.
Are you guys not always bitching about all the Californians moving up here and 'ruining' your city? Advocating people to tell out of towners about how shitty it is to live there? That is this forum that I read that right?
I love when I see you folks talk about a 2-hour+ commute that should take 30 minutes. When I go into the office in way-out in Oregon City from McMinnville, it takes me 60-65. But I'm moving the entire time at a fast clip, and that's even during high-traffic times.
I don't have control over how many Californians move here. Are you a lifelong Oregonian? Probably not because of what you stated. But dislike for California has been around since I was born. It's a little bit of truth, but also a lot of joking around. Something goes wrong in Oregon? BLAME CALIFORNIANS. ever watch the South Park movie where they blame canada? It's like that. Choosing to work in Portland and complain about tolls or oregon taxes is something you can control by finding a job in Vancouver or moving to Oregon. It's why I have never really entertained moving to Vancouver. Don't want to be in that situation. Also why I don't hit up Vancouver much, don't want to pay sales taxes at restaurants or whatever.
Have you and your wife sign up for Uber. Then fake having her hire you to drive her to your work. She pays you. But then you can deduct the tolls and gas as a work expense.
@BonesJones , @Jade Falcon, you guys want to weigh in on this thread? Do you want to pay a toll to go across the bridge to work or go to a Blazers game? Where do you stand on this?
So if you don't either live in Oregon or were born there, we don't want you here. Why don't you just say what you want to say? 'Go back to where you came from and stay out of our Country'(State) And if you all are that serious about making Oregon a Members Only State you could always build a wall around the border.
Except I never said that. I was just explaining what the Cali ribbing is from. Because it was evident you were uninformed. I have no issues if people living in Vancouver want to move here. It's just annoying hearing the constant bitching about having to pay Oregon taxes when YOU choose to work here and live elsewhere.
Hell nah. Build a new bridge. Widen it. They could do so much to help the traffic problem. Widen the freeway, build an I305 that runs from Vancouver to Hillsboro to Tigard, etc. Tolls aren't going to help with shit and it's basically a fee we have to pay for them to NOT fix the problem.
And I never said I was bitching about paying Oregon taxes, that's fine. My issue is when tax time comes around, why do I get only 2% of the total I paid in a refund check? The government doesn't keep 98% of the taxes I pay them? Also this is the very first time I have commented on paying Oregon taxes ever.
Exactly. If Oregon had better leadership they wouldn't have to resort to using tolls to pay for funding to improve the state.
