Disagree - if we had better leadership we would have had tolls years ago. Same as the hotel tax - it taxes people from out of state. barfo
Not sure what you mean, but you should actually be mad that you get as much as 2% back. It means you overpaid. barfo
As @JFizzleRaider says, some of the anti Cali stuff is kidding.......but for older natives like me, who have watched the Portland area degrade into the clusterfuck it has become, we see a lot of truth in the idea that newcomers in general (but Californians in particular) can be a pestilence. Californians who move up here whine about how they did so because California has gotten so bad and they made the move because Oregon is such a great and beautiful place. But after they have been here awhile, they start bitching about literally everything (traffic, parking, house prices....all the things their presence has been largely responsible for) and start yapping about how much better California is/was. They cry bitter tears over the weather (anyone who moves here and is unaware that it rains a tad bit is a fucking idiot) or that they can't pump their own gas. My wife's sister and husband moved here (Vancouver) 3 years ago after 40+ years in San Francisco because they couldn't handle the shit hole SF had become. Yet the bro in law (a Bay Area native) complains constantly about the move. All these pilgrims want to do is turn Oregon (and Washington) into California. Fuck 'em all, big and small. I love my state and have no patience with people who are too clueless to appreciate it. Californians go home!!!
Okay. Now we are getting somewhere. Are you saying I shouldn't expect a refund from the State of Oregon ever when I file my taxes next year? If the answer is yes, why? and why do my co workers who live in Oregon get refund checks from the state and much more than 2% too?
Dude. It's from a tax return. There are variables. Like how much money you make. Like if you itemize deductions. How many kids you have. How much you have withheld. How much you are lying on your return.
Yes. Tax return. That is what I have been talking about and until now no one has given me a solid answer as to why the State of Oregon takes nearly $3000(give or take) from my yearly income and when April 15th comes around why they keep all of it. Thank you
You know what, whatever. I am done with this bullshit. My neighbors get refund checks from Oregon, my co workers get refund checks from Oregon, everyone I have ever spoken to who lives in Washington and work in Oregon get refund checks from Oregon and I get fucked over every year. So its not just because I CHOOSE to work in Oregon.
Yes. Oregon chose you for some conspiracy theory reason to fuck over. It's called a tax return dude. I can't tell you why unless I saw your tax returns. There are a ton of variables that come into play on a tax return. Finding a job in Vancouver would solve your problems.
Moving on....... If Oregon actually goes through with this toll bullshit and makes people from Washington pay to cross the damn bridge, Jantzen Beach will be the first to die because there will MANY people who live in Washington who will refuse to buy anything in Oregon and all those businesses will go out of business because Oregon residents will not be enough to support them. You have NO CLUE how much revenue us 'Vantuckians' bring in for your state. That goes away if the tolls go up.
Talk to Jamie Herrera Butler what's her name. This toll program on federal highways is a new idea from the Trump administration. There are no tolls on I-5. This would be the first. This is a very bad precedent to set. Yes the interstate bridge had tolls on it when it was originally built but that was before it was part of I-5. That Herrera Butler is a republican but is against this. The more people that speak out the more she'll fight against it.
