Because when someone sheds bulk and you don’t compare to a different picture side by side, it can look like they actually gained “ripped” muscle mass, due to the difference in ratio between shoulders, chest, and waist.
With Nurk eating double teams for breakfast, lunch, and dinner I would expect those two to both average double figure rebounds if they get starter minutes. They are relentless rebounders especially on the offensive end. It'll be hard not to play Biggie eventually because he will create second and third opportunities constantly on the offensive end. That is a recipe for getting blown out against us, we can be average on the other side of the ball if we can make sure we dominate the boards night in and night out.
Actually it does, a picture is worth 1000 words..... He's obviously ripped from the pic. Certainly way more that Biggie or Nurk.
He's been that ripped. I don't see much of a difference. That pic is worth the 1000 words you can make up in your head but not necessarily the truth. Because the truth is that he lost weight. 20 lbs of pure muscle... LOL.
He's always been in good shape and muscular; that's never been the issue. The problem is that he plays small and has almost no feel for the game when it comes to playing within a team's defensive scheme.
It's possible to lose weight and get stronger. Not like it really matters with Leonard because up to this point at least, he hasn't shown any understanding of how to actually use his strength.
I was commenting on the picture. He actually lost weight and got leaner. But added tone. That seems to be the consensus from the interviews and statements made in the media.
That seems to be the consensus for every player, every year at the beginning of training camp. He's always had a good physique, but there's a difference between cosmetic musculature and functional strength. And neither matters if you don't use it when it counts. In reading this thread, after these many years I'm a little stunned anyone can take anything this guy says and get their hopes up. What's that saying, "Fool me five times, shame on you..."?
I'm fine with his body strength, how about his mental strength? Did that improve? It is the question we all want answered.
Oh, I know that it's shame on me if he lets me down again. All good. I'll happily take the bandwagon driver's seat, and if it breaks down, I won't even try to hitch a ride during my lonely hike back to town. But if I'm right about him...
Sorry. Not the consensus on every player at any time of any year. Never has been and absolutely never will be. Your dislike of Meyers has deluded you. The guy worked very hard this summer. Try giving the guy credit where it is due.
Oh I see the problem, you took my statement literally... Clearly my point is that this is the time of year when players talk about what they've worked on over the off-season and express their optimism for the upcoming season... Nobody comes in and says they slacked off and got a little chubby eating donuts or that they feel like they've gotten worse since last season. I'm not breaking any news here... I don't dislike Meyers, at all. You must have me mistaken for some other anonymous person on the internet that you don't know. I've rooted for him every season. And I've given him credit where credit is due- I've never doubted he works hard. But after all his hard work and after all the training camp optimism, year after year, where are we? ... Right about where we started his rookie year. Maybe 6th time's the charm.
