Pat played like crap in Summer League though. Hard to imagine him really being a rotation player. They'll probably play Evan Turner more, and maybe Morrow.

I understand completely--for example, see my recent posts regarding Biggie and Meyers. I just can't go there on Pat.

It was a joke about a thread lacking name calling and being open minded compared to how so many threads have gone recently

If you read what I actually wrote, rather than jumping to conclusions, you will see that I said:

Notice that I said Pat does everything else better, except scoring. Scoring is important and we lacked scoring off the bench last season. For scoring off the bench, Crabbe was our best option last season. Simple as that. No way was 2nd year Pat ready to replace 4th year Crabbe's scoring.

Where was Pat two years ago? Not sure why that is relevant. He was a rookie, and just like Crabbe, saw almost no playing time as a rookie. As I mentioned in my original post, Crabbe didn't break into the rotation until his third season. This is Pat's third season. Will it also be the year he breaks into the rotation? I guess we'll see.

I don't get the love for Courtney Lee.

He's 2/3 as expensive as Crabbe, and we'd be on the hook for his salary for the next 3 seasons. Next season we're going to want to spend money on Nurk, not a backup SG with no upside. He is only a SG, is a good (but worse) 3pt shooter, and not much good at anything else we care about - if his 114 DRtg is indicative of his defense.

He's certainly not going to help us win many games, if any. The price is a big tax bill and 1 of 4 seasons as taxpayer.

Plus he's on the downside of 30 years old.

If NO is going to use the TPE, I believe it would be only if the team is far over .500 and the addition of a much better player than Lee really helps our playoff chances. Otherwise, I see the TPE expiring unused, and enough salary cut so we get under the LT.

Numerous people keep bringing up the parallels of Crabbe and Pats first two seasons but it's misleading because Crabbe sat on two 50+ win clubs (behind McCollum who was also on the bench) while Pat sat despite there being opportunities to win a spot in the rotation. He couldn't even carve out a role after Turner went down. The team wasn't in much of a hurry to guarantee his affordable contract either.

Somebody refresh my memory; what is it that Pat does at an NBA level again?

    Towel waiving.

But realistically, I don't think the sample size is large enough to really judge. Athletically it's not hard to tell his limitations. He hasn't earned a role yet. Let's see if it changes.

Yeah no clue if Pat can take the next step. I agree that the sample size is too small. With the summer league team or with other scrubs he is asked to take on a bigger role than just a 3 & D role like AC. Who knows maybe he can do it. We have not really seen him much in that role, other than a few games last year where he actually looked better than he does with other scrubs.

I think Pat can turn the corner this year. He has thst insolant Boy Band member quality about him. The one that doesn't dance in time or wear the standard clothes. Pat could be our Donnie if you will.

I'm sure we will one way or another, but honestly I'd rather not have to endure it. The dude doesn't have any demonstrated NBA level attributes to this point, why would they magically change, just because a hole has opened up in the rotation?

Connaughton flat out sucks as an NBA player. I don't know how anyone cannot see this? From what I saw in summer league he couldn't play offense or defense.

Pat is much worse than people realize and everybody will remember the first few minutes he's back in the court. I want him gone more than Leonard tbh.
