I have always disliked the Playoff Setting. If one of the conferences is weaker than the other, it makes it easier for a team to make it to the finals, and sometimes, they arent tested. That is why I love the idea of having all the teams on one side of a bracket listed from 1-16. Go all by record which would make things more fair. You would really see who are the best teams in the league come playoff time, and the seeding IMO would be alot more appropriate. What do you guys think?

The NBA doesn't do this because say the West is overloaded with teams in the playoffs, like they have 11 and the East only has 5.Once those East teams are gone that loses fans who watch the games on TV and buys tickets to go to the games. Which means the NBA loses MONEYIf people's teams are out there wouldn't be AS MUCH people watching. It's all about the money...

I like this. The AFL used to do it and it worked well. The West Champions will be the best team this year, but it'll also be tougher on them because they will have a much tougher road to the Finals than the East too...so I don't think that's fair. Also I don't like players getting more credit for leading a team to the Finals in a much weaker conference than someone who almost did. [IMG]

^AKA, Nash leading the Suns to a WCF matchup, compared to Wade leading his team the Finals? Hmm?

It wouldnt necessarilly lose you money. Plus, it would make much more sense NBA wise. Records would still be the same becasue their would still be divisions and eastern conferences, just the best records would go all in to a 1-16 seeding. It would just be best because the best two teams no matter what would meet in the finals.

Doing this would make divisions and conferences pointless. I like it, but I think making it the top 8 teams from both conferences in it and then arrange those by records.

^Yeah, but that defiects the purpose of the entire idea. The idea is to make the playoffs have the 2 best teams in the finals. It wouldnt defeat the purpose of conferences and divisions. Obviously, you would get in if you won the division, but it would just go by record. And with different conferences, you would just play some of the teams twice and some of the teams four times like it is now.

I know it will never happen because of financial concerns but I have been in favor of this type of setting for a few years now. The way it would look right now:1 vs 16: Dallas vs Indiana8 vs 9: Chicago vs Washington5 vs 12: Detroit vs Los Angeles4 vs 13: Utah vs Denver6 vs 11: Houston vs Toronto3 vs 14: San Antonio vs Golden State7 vs 10: Cleveland vs Miami2 vs 15: Phoenix vs New Jersey

Those would be some very interesting matchups, but at the same time fans would be crying that their team got an unfair shake. the Pistons have the best record in the east, and their prize for that is a date with the lakers. I would rather see the NBA break up into conferences like in other sports, with an American and a National conference.

Actually seems like a great idea to me. It'll definitely get the best two teams playing in the final.

If their record was better, they wouldnt have to play a team like the Lakers in the first round. If it stays like it is, its not like a good team in the west wont have to play the Lakers...I think that it is the most fair. Teams in the eastern conference get to play an easier schedule to gain a better record, and come playoff time, they have a chance to have a higher seed, and if their record isnt as great as it should be, and its like the 6th or so best record in the NBA, then they will just have to play a better opponent. It is fair...

But then again you have a team like Dallas playing the Knicks, and PHX playing Toronto or some other unfavorable matchup...and there would be NO way to promote that...at all
