^^^ DO you agree with Trump's comments saying that these "SOBs should be fired" for taking a knee during the anthem?

Based on your previous comments, I think we all agree that the NFL should enforce their contracts with players. Bench , fine and fire as needed.

I'm not watching a single game until that league gets some balls.

Ratings are way down. Think that means a decent amount of people have been turned off by these arrogant prima donnas and are no longer watching. I am one of them.

...not sure where you get your info from but no, they are not "way down"...and though they have dipped a bit over the last few years, you might want to research as to the real reasons why. And it's not just football, it's all sports.

...and fwiw, after Monday night's game the NFL's aggregate rating were actually UP 3%.

Would live to know how they compute ratings for those with dvrs or watching the game online..what happens to those who watch the red zone channel when the local game blows...does the ratings reflect that?

    Ratings, stocks down
What's not disputed is that NFL ratings were down about 10% for the first three weeks of the season, which started Sept. 7, with about 15.8 million viewers (watching live or on DVR same-day), compared to 17.6 million during the first three weeks of 2016, according to Nielsen data. That follows a trend last year of overall viewership during the 2016 regular season, when ratings fell 8%.

So ratings down 8% from 2015 to 2016 and down 10% from 2016 thru the first 3 weeks of 2017. I'd say thats significant

...again, no it's not...did you even read the article?...NFL ratings are actually "UP 3% when compared to last year after week 3"... and sorry but your numbers are incomplete because FYI, "Nielson data"does NOT include the MILLIONS of viewers who watch games on their MOBILE DEVICES. Neither does Nielson account for the quality of good game matchups from last year to this year.
...and one more time, collectively, ALL sports have seen a drop in TV viewership in recent years, that's not exactly news...but plain and simple, the fact that athletes are expressing their concern during the national anthem is not affecting TV viewership...is that not the premise of your argument?

I did read the article. You cherrypicked a line about week 3 being up over week 3 only from last year which does not overcome the decline from weeks 1 and 2. Do you really think nfl ratings are up year to date over last year? If you do then you are amongst a small minority that do.

NEW YORK — Through three weeks, viewership for national telecasts of NFL games is down 11 percent this season compared to 2016, the Nielsen company said on Tuesday.

i'd say 10% equals "way down" a that's statistically significant. agreeing with trump on nfl doesn't mean you agree with him anywhere else and you are welcome to cite the "even a blind squirrel finds a nut" defense.

but if you can't, than your trump hate has become pathological and its time to seek professional help (liberalism is a mental disorder afterall, lol!).

I had sent the mods a post a couple of weeks ago asking to close this useless thread that has nothing to do with yankee baseball after well over a mind boggling 2,000 posts that basically just bash our president whether you agree with him or not. For some reason the mods have chosen to keep this thread open. This thread has past the embarrassing point. How about we get back to baseball!!

If the mod wants it left open, it is alright with us. Why? A lot of sports forums have posts every now and then that is not sports related. The post OT first before they post the title and thread. That way people that do not want an off topic thread can stay out of it

We have a Off topicl forum as well where everyone can post if they feel the need to talk about something else other than sports. You can post threads and reply to posts there.

Another thing that can be done, is move the thread to Off Topic with a redirect here. The mod should be able to do this. If most of you all want it moved have the mod pm me.

Once moved people that want to post in it can still do so. It will redirect them to the thread.

...I didn't "cherry pick" anything...I actually quoted from the article...read again...I didn't say anything about the first three weeks...I said week 3 as compared to last year's week 3...see the difference now?
...now..try as best you can, in the proper context, to extrapolate Trump's words into an NFL downturn in ratings...I'll wait.

...uhh, in case you didn't notice, there's this little yellow thingy at the very top of the thread that clearly says "OT"...FYI, that stands for "off topic"...if you don't want to participate in the thread discussion, no one is forcing you.

...on the other hand, if you want to create your own "OT" thread blindly fellating Trump, be my guest.

...no one is whining to the moderators except you.
