Setting up players the entire first half is not trying to get 50 pts. He didn't want the 50.</div>Fine then....Its not enough to get 50, but its enough to get more than 16. Shooting the ball 16 times and only scoring 16 points is pretty terrible. Idk how many of his points were off of free throws, but I know that at least 6 of them were because they came in the first quarter. I saw 3 pretty nice passes from him in the first quarter, but I guarantee you that scoring 50 was on his mind. And after he had a poor first quarter, there was just just no point in forcing up shots to get it.

I doubt 50 points was his focus going into th game last night. He only shot it no more than 3 times in the 1st quarter. Trust me, he was more interested in trying to get a win, when other players get the ball more.
Re: gilbert's last shot at 50 vs. blazers tuesday Moral of the story is Arenas should have never said it in the first place. Then we wouldn't be talking about this stupid situation. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>All I'm saying is, yeah Gilbert said he'd score 50, but he didn't. He did give up 20 points, from the 10 assists he dished out. He still managed to score 20 points off 16 attempts, just imagine if he did hit most of his shots. Check it out, he hit 4 out of 16 on the field with 19 points, if he hadn't dished out his 10 points, and scored on 7 of those plays, that would've been 14 points, including the and 1's he could've had, that would've been 34 points. I'd say 34 is still nice, even though he didn't get 50. All I'm saying is, if his shot was going down, he would've had 30 or 40 easily, and if it went to OT, who knows how much more he could've had.</div> Do you and PFF enjoy fantasizing? This is akin to PFF throwing out possible stats for his Pacer players.

You know, if he didnt walk down the court w/ 4 seconds left, he would have had a lot more time to set up and probly get a decent look. Too cocky...

Why would he keep and keep on shooting 3 balls if he after he misses that many. He was obviously forcing up shots just to get alot of points. And last night in the first quarter, I saw him force up a few 3 balls in which he made none of them. He had 16 points and how many of them were off of free throws? I guarantee you that if he shot well and made all of the 3's in the first quarter, you would have seen him shoot alot more. He just knew that he didnt have the chance to get it...Of course he was more interested in getting the win. That doesn't mean he didnt want to get 50 before the game started.
Re: gilbert's last shot at 50 vs. blazers tuesday Blazerspwnu, guess what, Gilbert had his first 3 assists BEFORE HIS FIRST SHOT.Go watch your lottery team get one more lucky win before the season is over, maybe you can get Kobe to drop 65 on u again.

I only watched the first quarter, but after shooting bad in the first, he had no chance of getting 50, so he decided not to shoot the ball that much. If he would have been feeling it in the first quarter, he would have shot the ball alot more, and he would have gone for 50. But after missing 3 three's in the first quarter, he knew he couldn't get 50...So he played smarter, and made some great passes.

Re: gilbert's last shot at 50 vs. blazers tuesday Well, hes doin just fine rebounding from the blazer game:40 points vs. the sonics tonight
Re: gilbert's last shot at 50 vs. blazers tuesday 42 points and a buzzer beater, thats the "trash" that u guys talk about.
Re: gilbert's last shot at 50 vs. blazers tuesday heres what he said on his blog:-----------I?ll start off by saying ? well, everybody wants to know about the 50-point game. You know, I didn?t get the 50 I promised myself and my lovely fans. So, I?m 1-for-2. I?m 1-for-2 on my predictions. I can actually live with that.1-for-2 this season when you say you?re going to score 50 on somebody. One team you got it against, the other team, well they watched that other team get 50 so they?re not going to have that. They played a great game. They played me tough. They was into it. It was actually playoff basketball for the most part. The fans were into it. They were into more than both teams I think. That energy from when I touched the ball to when they called my name, you know, ?Boooooooo!? I even made bets. I made bets with two people. One person said, ?I guarantee you ain?t gonna score 50, I bet you $10!? So I bet one guy $10 on that one, and I bet another guy $10, I said, ?If it comes down to the last shot, I?m going to hit the game winner.? I owe two people $10, and they actually gave me their e-mail addresses so they?ll get it.That was the loudest arena that I?ve been to all season, and it?s not even the playoffs. That was the loudest arena in probably a decade for a regular season game. Before that day I made that prediction, I don?t think anybody knew who I was in Portland. So by me saying I was going to score 50, about 14,000 people showed up on a Tuesday night.-----------"that was the loudest arena in probably a decade for a regular season game..." Haha. Pretty good for portland fans whose team isnt gonna make the playoffs. I liked what he said in this blog. Hes such a character, betting a fan 10 bucks that he would make the game winner. Gilbert:--------That?s what it is. That?s who I am. I?m a fan. I enjoy the game.So if that?s ?crazy? or ?quirky,? just give me season tickets to any arena and let me sit there with 20,000 other ?crazy? and ?quirky? people. So when I hear critics say, ?Just play basketball,? I say, from the age of 14, that?s all I?ve been doing ? playing basketball.I?ve been playing from a fan?s view. There?s hundreds of NBA players, but there?s a few basketball-playing fans. What I mean is that there?s a few NBA players that?s actually a fan of the game of basketball. There?s a few players, if you take the money away, they will still play it as hard as they do. Only a few.?Gilbertology? and ?Gilbert being Gilbert? means Gilbert enjoying his time in the NBA. From predictions that I say I?m going to do, to pranks, that I have fun doing with my teammates.I?m going to enjoy it because you never know when it?s going to end. From a season-ending injury, to a career-ending injury, you never know how long it?s going to be. You never know how long you?re going to be in this game.---------
