http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...ts-captains-pick-team-conference-affiliations The NBA All-Star Game will switch formats this season, as two captains will select the teams regardless of which conferences the players play in, the league announced Tuesday.
...........The format will add a layer of intrigue as the captains will have to consider an array of factors when making the playground-style selections and add spice to the event. It has the potential to create extra meaning as past, current and future relationships between players may be considered when making the selections........ I love the idea of teammates going at it! This will be fun. Kind of a popularity contest though.
Also, the starters are still selected by the fans, so that's going to limit what the player/GMs can do. They still have to pick from the trash heap that is the Eastern Conference.
I think it's the same format other than the 2 captains will split up the chosen players regardless of conference. HA! The eastern players are going to be the last 10 picked HA!
I am not sure there is anything they can do to fix this game. Unless there is an incentive to play hard, they won't until the last few minutes. They are all just trying to avoid injuries. This all-star game has become unwatchable. Maybe a winner take all 24 million dollar prize would fix it. (2 mill each for 12 guys)
Can't wait to see who the LAST player picked is.....you nerds will know how that feels huh? Just a little flashback to your own childhoods!
Nothing is changed regarding the number of players allowed per conference. Five voted in and seven selected by conference coaches. The only difference is that the 14 subs are chosen by the captains as to which team they play on.
Used to be me. I usually ended up being the best or 2nd best player when the game was all done. People did not appreciate my craftiness, footwork and long-ball accuracy. Actually happened to me both in middle-school, high-school and in the gyms I used to play in when I lived in Brooklyn. Surprised a lot of people.
