Ok well I just got in a arguement with a few friends of mine who said Gordon stats are no where near gilberts and that there not better .... Well from these stats people may thing differentA few stats hereGordon SeasonMPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF TOT APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG 32.2 .454 .403 .872 . 40 2.80 3.20 3.6 .75 .19 2.99 3.00 21.1Gilbert seasonMPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF TOT APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG 40.5 .419 .353 .848 .90 3.90 4.80 5.8 1.87 .17 3.41 3.30 28.8Gordon FG 488-1,076 3pt 120-298Gilbert FG 562-1,341 3pt 176-499Now if Gordon played 40+ min and took as near as many shots... im sure Gordons stats maybe better then gilberts
Yeah, you could say that and all, but the fact of the matter is that he doesn't score as many points as Gilbert does, and he doesn't play as much as gilbert, and he isnt as good of a player as Gilbert either...Give him a few years and he might be on the same level, but as of right now, he isnt as good as him.
Yeah I know he doesn't.. that was my main point with my friends.. Gilbert plays alot more min and takes wayyyy more shots.. but only getting 8ppg more.. By the time gordon is in his 5th year he should be getting stats like that or so... depending whos on the team
Gordon doesn't get double teamed nearly every night, plain and simple. I'm not gonna lie I think Gordon will at one point be one of the great scorers in the league but you can't just look at these stats. Not to mention Gilbert played through a shoulder injury that greatly reduced his three point shooting percentages. Gordon at a young age however is knocking down three's like Gilbert never did. Gilbert became a three point shooter in the 2005-2006 season before that he was mediocre from long range.
I have to go with Gilbert Arenas on the mere fact that his game is more versatile. Teams realize they have to double-team the man.

A perfect example is the cavs game, where he basically got raped and triple teamed during the finale seconds. I dont think hes at Arenas's level, but in a few years I can see him surpass Arenas when he improves his ball handling.

He got triple teamed in the final seconds becuase it was obvious he was going to take the final shot which by the way he rarely makes. Arenas isn't just a pure scorer like many people think, he has very under-rated court vision, is a good rebounder for a guard, and is very talented at blocking the passing lanes. That being said Gilbert plays little to no defense every game, he believes that becuase he gets a steal or two a game that's good enough. Gilbert has to become more of a perimeter threat if he ever wants to truly become great. Do not forget that Gilbert is also young, he's only 25 while Ben Gordon is 24 in two days. Both have more developing to do before their prime and I hope that Gilbert learns to play the least bit of perimeter defense. Another weakness in Gil's game is the fact that he settles for jumpshots too much when he's best driving to the hole and getting a foul like he would do in previous years. That is where Gilbert is the most effective. Gordon can very well become a better player than Gilbert. I believe that Gilbert is more talented than Gordon but Gordon is even at one year younger than Gilbert, a smarter basketball player. Hibachi works on his game tremendousely every summer and brings something new to the table every year hopefully he will continue to do this as it is a great habit. Right now Gilbert is better but very soon Gordon could be better.
Gordon rarely doubled?????? I cant believe you said he is rarely doubled. Gordon is almost always doubled and is usally defended by the better guards, Yeah Kirk and Deng can score but so can Butler and Jamison and they are both scoring more than Deng and Kirk showing that they prolly draw more coverage away from Arenas, then kirk and deng do from gordon. To say Gordon is hardly ever doubled proves that you don't watch many Bulls games, you just see highlights. If you ever watch a close game with the bulls, the moment Wallace or whoever sets a screen, Gordon gets doubled. Hes been triple teamed many times near the end of games when the score was close. Hes basically our only go to guy near the end of games. You hardly see a one on one situation near the end of games with gordon, and I've seen multiple times where the wiz were down by a few points and it was a one on one situation and all Arenas had to do was walk up and shoot. Gordon would immediately get covered, becuz Hinrich and Deng just arent that good of shooters to be that big of a threat. I still say Arenas is the better player now, but come on man, Gordon gets double teamed a lot
