Absolutely. We lost last night because Pat played passively, like he always does, and Jake shot us out of the game (like HE always seems to). Biebs wasn't at fault... THIS time.

The only reason people want him to play well enough to be traded is so they don't have to rescind a lot of what they have said over the last few years. If he plays well enough to be a solid backup to Nurkic why would we feel like we want him playing well elsewhere... what do they call that cutting of our nose to spite our face?

No, it's because he's fragile. He could play well for a while, then lose his confidence. I hope it doesn't happen, but we just drafted 2 fantastic bigs - we don't need him.

If Nurkic gets two quick fouls against a big strong center, Meyers is our best defensive option. He provides something off our bench nobody else does. He has value to this team.

He absolutely has value to the team, especially the way he played game 1, but....
You act like he's free - he isn't. I'd rather have Biggie/Ed backing up Nurk in this situation and 10 MILLION DOLLARS off our cap, which would put us below the luxury tax, and give us TWO more years before paying the repeater tax.

I am a fan of Ed Davis. On this team, his lack of outside shooting hurts, basically making all the good things he does a wash.

I'm tired of player playing out of position, Meyers at PF, Aminu at PF, Davis at C. It's not a winning formula, it's a bandaid when you have deficiencies.

Agreed, for the most part, although I think Davis and Meyers can play out of position just fine; if they play together. They actually complement each other quite well, IMO. Meyers' "PF-esque" attributes are offset by Davis' "C-ish" skillset, and vice-versa.

Normally i would totally agree. But the level of hate directed towards Meyers Leonard is at a level i don't think i have seen except maybe Raymond Felton? The guy played as solid a game last night for 13 mins as any i have seen from him and the hate continues. What would it take to get past it for him? My only thought is another city and another town to get a fresh start.

There are a lot of solutions to getting below the luxury tax, and the Blazers have until the trade deadline to do it. I don’t see any benefits to rushing. Let the season unfold a bit and then see what needs we have and what trade opportunities arise.

I don't think anyone would have to rescind anything.

Most people said "Big guys take a while. Give him three years" it's been 5 so i agree. We are all ready for him to have a good season.

Im glad somebody else was watching the same game I was.

So his #'s looked good. They always do. I told the old lady last night he was once a 50/40/90 guy. Yeah, hes a big ass athletic dude that can shoot and run the court. Regardless, His game last night was all wrong. I caught myself saying "YeaH Meyers!" like twice. He is an NBA Player, and has made strides, all good. For me, After 6 YEARS. (he was drafted in dame's class only a few slots behind him) next to EZ, Zach, Biggie, And Nurk. He's not only the 3rd wheel, but that wheel is made of stone and more of a triangle than a wheel.

    Give me a break:blond:

    Bronze.

Stotts thought so much of the multi year vet that he yanked him in the 4th when Phoenix was scoring at will

I did notice at some point last night Meyers' body language changed to almost disinterest. I almost thought he must have gotten hurt because it was sudden. That 4th quarter squad was absolutely terrible and should never be put in as a unit again!

I don't need Meyers to be a starter, but if he returned to his Center form of 2014-2015 and gave us say 6 and 6 in 15 mpg, as a backup to Nurkic, he actually would be better than most backup centers in the league, and his defense is better than acknowledged in here.

That is soooo 2007. Don't you know we are in a new era of positionless basketball? Seriously though I think the issue is more the quality of those 3 players than than their positions. If they were all 2 way players....there would not be an issue.

I think positionless basketball (I think you were kidding) is a temporary trend where teams have geared up to try to compete with the Warriors and will fall short. Much like how many teams tried to emulate the early 2000 defense laden Pistons team, it simply won't pan out long term.
