Wrong.Pippen should have NEVER been on that top 50 list ever. Real neutral fans know that. I don't even like the Bulls, nor the Lakers, but I saw Jordan TORCH my Knicks many times, and Pippen was a pussy during that one game in the playoffs, he's a fag...didnt do sh*t with out jordan..Kobe's team is in like the 6th spot for the playoffs, jordan's team won 72 games...both teams had a similar roster at this point..Kobe doesn't have a great supporting cast, but I feel Odom/Walton can be just as effective as Pippen was.

F*ck all this Kobe vs. Jordan bullsh**. Bottom line, Jordan was the leader of a team that could win 55 games WITHOUT him. How many superstars can you say that about? Jordan was a great, great player, but for people to just say, "Jordan's the best there ever was, he was the best there'll ever be. Kobe can never touch him, Lebron will never come close. He's the GOAT and that's it." is stupid.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (valo35 @ Mar 20 2007, 07:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>He might have made his team a little better, but they easily made him better. Jordan was the scorer on that team, but I think people have this twisted view it was all him that made this team great, and that is wrong. Those 6 championship teams he was on, were all very very good teams. They had good defense, good rebounding, good shooting. What tells me about how great this team was, is how they still managed to be a championship contender, even after Jordan went to play baseball that one year. They won 55 games in the regular, two less than all of the season before, and they took the Knicks in the playoffs to a seven game series. That Knicks team was the team that made it out of the East that year. So this was an awesome team, that did everything else, and made Jordan have to mostly care about guarding his man and scoring. He didn't have to worry about much else because of the team he is on. Scottie Pippen was as valuable to those Bulls teams as Jordan was, I think they shared equal ownership there. Jordan just got recognition because he was the flashier player of the two.</div>I defiently agree on the Pippen part. But Pippen and other players have said that without MJ, Pippen wouldve never reached that caliber. Teammates have said in invterviews that for Pippens first 2-3 yrs, he disliked MJ alot, because MJ was so hard on him, as he was on all his players. When I say MJ made them better, I mean off the court too. Great players have that thing about them that makes certain others shine. You seen this with Larry Bird, Shaquille Oneal etc etc. I think MJ was the greatest ever, not becuase of athletic ability, or because he was a good scorer...but what made MJ the greatest IMO was his drive, his leadership, how he was smart on the court, and his willingness to do whatever it takes....add that with his physical abilities and you have the greatest. People who think MJ was the greatest cause of his physical abilities arent right..its your basketball IQ and your drive that makes you great.

He had a very good team around him, he might have handled a majority of the scoring by himself, but his team around him was great. How about having two of the grittiest and toughest rebounders and man to man defenders around for both of his championship runs in Horace Grant and Dennis Rodman. How about having three point shooters around him, like Steve Kerr, John Paxson, Toni Kukoc, BJ Armstrong to have cleared the lane for Michael Jordan's driving in to be effective. How about having one of the 50 greatest players of all time next to him like Scottie Pippen who facilitated the offense, meanwhile played defense just as well as Michael Jordan at the other end. Not to mention having a superb team defense around him. Case and point is the fact that this team won 55 games the year he went and played baseball, with Scottie Pippen being the unquestioned leader. They only won 57 games the year before. Add to that, they played tough in the playoffs, and took your Knicks team a seven game series. That Knicks team made it to the finals that year. So they was a championship contender without Michael Jordan, so how can you even say he did it by himself? He had a boat load of help, not to mention a hall of fame coach that put a system into place that allowed him to look great. That is ALOT of help, so don't say that he had no help around him. As for the part where Scottie Pippen played pathetic when Jordan retired to go play baseball, nothing could be farther from the truth. With stats of 22 points per game, 8.7 rebounds per game, 5.6 assists per game, 2.9 steals per game, and shot a measily 49 percent from the field. All this while leading his championship contender team to a 55 win season, and into the playoffs. Leading his team in the playoffs and having them challenge that very good Knicks team to a seven game series. By the way, the guy this was while filling Michael Jordan's spot with a Pete Myers, who was in the CBA the year before. Had they had an even decent shooting guard in that spot, and I feel certain we would have seen them go past that Knicks team into the finals. So to say he was pathetic is just dumb. Then later on you say that Lamar Odom/Luke Walton is just as effective as Scottie Pippen, which was just ludicrous speaking. These two can't stay healthy, and can't play the defense that Scottie Pippen could.

Remember jordan when he 1st retired said there was no comp for him and it was to easy.......... Who else you know would retire and say its to easy..... come back win 3 more rings.... retire again goto the wrost team in the nba miss the playoffs by like 2 games and still get 20+ppg at the age 40?Jordan is god

I do think Kobe in his peak is as good as MJ was in his. But Jordan's a far better team player, and while Kobe is highly competitive, he's nowhere near as MJ was. In 93 after Jordan cut PHX's lead to two with 40 secs. remaining, who hit the game winning shot? In that last possesion three bulls players (including jordan) had touched the ball before Paxson hit the game winning shot. Also in 97, Steve Kerr got the winning shot from a dime by Jordan. And you can't forget the 35 points he scored while he had the flu and food poisoning.Add in the fact that the D was focused on MJ during his time, and yet he still delivered. The D focused on Shaq during the Kobe-Shaq era.
God > Gretzky > Jordan. Dont feel like including Wilt, Tiger, Federer, etc etcJordan is overrated and lucky. Just like his defense in his first comeback. Jordan only did that on switches. Pippen led the BasketballGodless Bulls to 55 wins, and got scrued by the refs in the playoffs. Pippen was a great defender in a defensive era. When MJ would yell at his teammates, it would be Pippen who would calm them down. As for Kobe. He still doesn't know when to pass, and when to take over. He ruined a dynasty. Early in the year when he was called upon to be the facilitator he was getting around 7 and 8 assists a game. Now with the injuries and players coming back(Luke,Lamar,Kwame) Kobe is taking upon himself the role to shoot more and he is making the lot of them. He is doing a good job knowing exactly when he needs to pass more and when he needs to be scorer Kobe. He ruined a dynasty? I don't think so: http://youtube.com/watch?v=9qQPBt7QW5Q If you put all the blame on Kobe, you are completely mis lead and don't understand the situation.
