BLAZERS' OFFICIAL GAME NOTES

• Friday’s game marks the second ever meeting between the Trail Blazers and Maccabi Haifa. Portland defeated Maccabi Haifa, 121-74, on October 18, 2014.
• Damian Lillard (11 points, two assists), Meyers Leonard (six points, five rebounds, three assists) and CJ McCollum (seven points, two rebounds) are the current Portland players that played against Maccabi Haifa in 2014.

• Maccabi Haifa has played NBA exhibition games in seven of the last eight preseasons.

• Also known as the “Greens”, Macabbi Haifa is the 2016-17 Israeli Basketball Super League runner-up. The Greens have reached the Israeli Legue Finals in three of the last five seasons.

• Maccabi Haifa is one of the original eight teams that formed the Israeli Premier League (also known as the Super League) in the 1953-54 season.

• The Greens won their first championship in franchise history by defeating Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 2012-13 Israeli League Finals.

I was on a business trip 2 years ago and got to see Haifa vs. Tel Aviv (in Romema if I remember the name of the stadium correctly). Probably not the same team anymore. Nothing stood out about either team on that game.

Just wanted to point this out because I might be the 2nd best Expert on Haifa on S2. Ask your scouting questions as you wish. The answer is "I do not know - but the Moda center is nicer".

Why is Maccabi playing nba teams in the preseason? What's the point? I don't get it.

If the nba wants to drum up international interest, why not have a chineese team come over here to play nba teams?

Is it on TV national station? Why are they playing an Israeli team on Shabbat?

They heard a miracle worker was playing for the Blazers, and wanted to see Lillard walk on water.

Excellent question. Seems incredibly insensitive. If the NCAA can make a point to not have BYU play on Sundays, we should be willing to push a game against a team from Israel to after sunset on Saturday.

Their owner is american and I think he's well connected in the basketball community and with NBA execs. It's already maybe the 3rd time they're going on this tour in the preseason.

I just think it's great we are playing a team called Macabre on Friday the 13th.

Macabre also describes the likely outcome.

Speaking of this pointless game: I need a pair of tickets to take my daughter. 100-level only please. I'm not driving an hour and a half each way in the rain for this shit show and sit in the nose bleeds. Just sayin' ;)

Maccabi. The Maccabis were Israelis 2000+ years ago that fought the Greek empire. Many Sports team in Israel are called Maccabi, it's like a joint union of many sports clubs in many different sports

Close enough ;)

You can probably get the big screen show again. They aren't broadcasting

I say the complete opposite. Treat this like a big regular season game. Play everybody their would be normal minutes and see how things go. Don't play again for awhile.
